My First Wolf! :)

Nice wolf indeed. I have to agree that it doesn't look to be 156 lbs, but also have to admit its hard to tell from a pic. Certainly that would be a huge wolf. I understand the world record to be a wolf that was taken in Alaska in 1939 that weighed 175.

Hey Kris , news flash bud theres been a couple of 200 pounders shot in the lakes district in the past few years, my brothers wolf was 150 and a buddys wolf last winter was 155 on the scales, and weight dosnt mean crap to skull size for the books , Ive seen 300 pound bears with 20" skulls and 400 pound bears with 18" skulls that would be genetics ;)

by the way my bassett hound weighs in at 80 pounds 10" tall 27" long ;)

seatux..............:jerkit: :stfun00b:

and congrats nice dog

So what does wolf taste like.....as you eat what you killl right.

nope crab bate ;) I've herd of some horror story's about people eating them around here and getting nasty bugs.

Riley did you guys already skin it out? if not easily verified by taking it to Harley and having him weigh it ;)

Ya we did skin er already. I never thought about Harley I should have showed him :(0
YAY! PGKris wanted another excuse to be an a**hole!!

There is no friggin way that wolf weighs 156lbs unless his stomach had more than 50 pounds of moose meat in it when you shot him:D
How do I know this? My old man happened to shoot a wolf that was 7'2" nose to tip of tail, biggest one to see the PG taxidermist in 20 years. Weighed in at 103lbs and scored well in the BC book, skull 18 and change.

NOW, that's not to say taking a wolf FAIR CHASE, without the aid of bait or electronics, isn't one of hunting's greatest accomplishments, IT IS. Great animal! GREAT choice for deciding that you only need to shoot one. Good luck on tthe griz, but I don't want to hear that it weighed a thousand pounds and went 12' nose to tail. Keep up the good shooting, but spare us the embellishment.

I'll check my scale lol its an old p.o.s so it could be off... It said i weighed 203 lbs and i haven't stepped on one since. The last time i was 180... But i have been working out lots! :p Oh and BTW I do know where one grizz is that is around that 1000 lb mark. :D I just have to find him again.... Now that its grizz season...

I am going to pay for this, but here I go anyway

This is written without prejudice, since I also am a hunter.

I know I am about to go against the tide here, and I will probably feel the wrath of many a-CGNers, but I can not agree.

I am also of the opinion that if it is not eating your chickens, attacking your sheep or threatening your life, why kill something you can not eat.

As it has been mentioned, taking a wolf fair chase is a difficult task and we all enjoy the adrenaline rush that comes at the end of a well done stalk and track while hunting. Mind you, once there, at the end of the stalk, a camera shoots just as well as a rifle.

Anyway, that is just me.
Regards
Robert

Or you could have just been silent and let the guy enjoy his moment. Thanks for foisting your morals on the rest of us:jerkit:.

Congrats on the wolf. Been trying to get one for years. I've missed clean 4 times now -- more than I've ever missed on deer.

Why do you feel it neccesary to give your opinion on this subject? This is the hunting section of CGN just in case you allready didn't know.

Now go away.

By the way, I am a hunter as well

I knew I should have shut up and left it alone, but I find that the wolf is such a great creature, I could not help myself

by the way, I am a hunter too

I have much more admiration for the coyote which can survive and thrive places wolves can't. Still shoot them though. Don't see how any hunter can put one animal on a pedestal and say it's sacrosanct. Other than from a conservation point of view, any population that can withstand some harvest should be able to be legally hunted. Yes I include eagles, hawks and pileated wood peckers in that.

Why do you even open your mouth to speak and pass judgement on a topic you know nothing about?

IN BC, resident hunters are allowed to shoot 3 wolves per year- no tag required. Seqasons for wolves have been greatly expanded in many areas. There is NO shortage of wolves.

There is NO conservation reason to not hunt them.

Oh great. We shoudl all make hunting decisions on what *you* happen to think is a "great creature"..

I happen to think that ducks, geese, deer and moose are "great creatures" so please don't hunt them.:kickInTheNuts:

By the way, I'm a hunter, too.:jerkit:

Any and all of the above or sell the pelt for a couple hundred bucks. Near Sundre here the local fish and game association has been paying a bounty of 2 or 3 hundred bucks for wolves shot near the Ya Ha Tinda area as they are hurting the elk population.
