Okay guys.

I need some recommendations, been looking into getting my first 12 guage for a while now but i don't really know what to get. I'v been really interested in the supernova for a while but i just cant justify the price tag for what you are getting. Im sure its a fabulous gun, but 1000 for a short barrel and collapsible stock, plus the accessories are expensive as well.

The other gun iv been looking it is the Fabarm Martial Ultrashort, but I haven't been able to find much information on this particular gun. If anyone has any information they would be willing to share, id appreciate it.

So that said, what would you guys recommend? only requirement is, a pump, short barrel, would like to be able to fit 5-6 cartridge. This guns primary purpose is to take when im quading/ fishing... out door sports what ever it may be. which is why i want something small, not as non-intrusive as possible.

Cheers!

Cheap and easy -maverick 88
Cheap and easy with more dress up parts -870
Cheap and easy and built like a tank with the same dress up option as the 870-dominion arms grizzly!

Of all of them id recomend the grizzly their built better then any modern 870 my next choice would be the maverick 88,just a head up though you cant change up the foregrip as easy since the action bars are built into the foregrip.

As mentioned, Maverick 88 rules for pump action value with stone cold reliability. But $1000 for a Supernova is a ripoff. They go for $700 most places. I dont own a 14" but have handled one, they are very nice little shotguns and my 18.5" has been the most reliable gun Ive ever owned. Well worth the money over anything else IMO. They come with features that cant even be added to rem/mossys and stuff you have to pay extra for after you buy a rem/mossy. If compact is your thing go 14", they get real small with the stock collapsed. The 18.5" fixed stock is big for an 18.5" shotgun. It doesnt bother me but I feel the 14" would suit you better given your requirements.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

The benelli is still my first choice but the cheapest i'v been able to find it is at AL Flaherty's for 800$ plus whatever for shipping which will run me close to 900$. That's for the Benelli Super Nova Tactical 12g 14" w/Collapsing Pistol Grip.

I would love to hear someone who has experience with Fabarm, I think its the next closes thing iv been able to find to the supernova. I do like the Grizzly and if all ells fails, this will probably be the one i go with. I do seem to like the 14" size best and the grizzly is just a little shy of that.

The mav, Moss, and 870 seem to all be in the 18.5 and up range which is a little longer then I would like.

The Fabarm is great. I've had a couple and have no complaints at all. Worth the money as far as I'm concerned.
I've never fired the Supernova, but have handled a couple and they feel damn nice. Rock solid.

I have an 870 with 12.5" and 18.5" barrels that I use for outdoor activities, I don't find the shorter barrel all that much handier most of the time and it's definately not as pleasant to shoot.

I also find the 870 platform {and clones} to be somewhat heavy to lug around all day, to the point where I'm looking to replace it with something lighter.

Whatever I end up getting has to at least an 18" barrel and probably have a folding stock for when I need compactness. A folded stock will knock about 10" off, a shotgun with a 20" bbl that's 40" in OAL will still be shorter with a folded stock than my 870 is {32.5"} with its 12.5" barrel and short LOP fixed stock.

Well Thanks for all your input guys, It was much appreciated. I ended up buying a No bells and no whistles 12.5 Dominion Griz, I decided I didn't want to spend too much on a gun that will probably see a lot of abuse in the bush. I think if I had gone for the Supernova I'v been drooling over it probably would have become a safe warmer and never seen anything other then the range. At least now with the griz I wont feel to hurt if it get covered in mud and dirt. Turns out its just the right size has a nice feel but I was a little surprised at how heavy it was like 870P stated, not a big issue for me.

Again, thanks for the Impute!
