my FN FAL got grabed by fn RCMP

Why is no one in our Government stopping the RCMP? My guess is because us gun owners are second class citizens. Can you imagine if this level of intimidation and regulatory BS were applied to ### marriage.....at least the ### minority can organize….

Is this your only 12.3 gun? Would you lose your 12.3 status if they destroy it? Can you find another 12.3 gun to buy and keep your 12.3 status before they key in on this possibility?

I'm pretty sure that nothing can be destroyed in Canada without a court order.

Of course I've seen several guns that were illegally destroyed by various police organizations.

Is there any benefit to send just the reciever for inspection when doing a transfer? The original owner should be able to strip the gun down and send the purchaser all the other bits and pieces - at least that way if the receiver was seized you would have a tiny bit of value.

I suggest this with crossed fingers because I lost an Israeli FAL years ago when I bought it from a fellow who didn't get it reregistered as CA. He tried, but his local police refused to do so since it was already registered. When my local police came to pick it up for "inspection" I offered to send just the receiver and was told that woudln't be acceptable.

A fellow I know attempted to transfer a stripped 12.3 M14 a few years ago, they told him that by stripping it he had created an unregistered 12.2 M14.

The lock mechanism was still welded to the leg, so how is that 12.2 ??

I remember that situation. (if it was the same one)

Talk about a Catch 22, no win, walking blindfolded in a minefield situation...

Again this is highlighting some very important legal situations that the "nation bodies" should be taking an interest in. But they don't. They would much sooner spend contributor's money on defending dope smoking puss heads after getting their guns seized.

These things are regularly discussed at the NFA and CSSA meetings. I think many here do not understand how tiny the orgs are. If you have pets causes, please volunteer and advance them. They cannot do everything with the 5 same volunteers and one office person.

Just a thought... does anyone else here read Reddit.com? Some seriously good things have come out of that site. Money to send a dying guy on an amazing trip, bus monitor who was humiliated on the job got enough donations to comfortably retire. I imagine if some of the US folks who are on there saw that our government is seizing our firearms without compensation there'd be someone who'd know what to do. It's quite an amazing community, really. Be aware that everything on Reddit is checked on. People WILL call the RCMP and verify guns are being seized. The OP will probably have to provide his phone number and the moderators will call and verify who he is and what the story is. But hey.. it's worked in the past.

This is friggin disgusting. I was three years old when the FN was made prohibited, so of course I don't own one, but I still consider this to be a personal insult. I hate seeing you guys thrown under the bus like this, it's wrong, to say the very least.

I'm really sorry guys.

This should probably be somewhere other than 'milsurps' too...

When prohibs became 'banned' from firing there was a schitt load of support from CGN over it-in the way of funding court cases against the CFOs (that went no-where but the attempt was made)

any mods wanna move this to to politics and or legal sections?

Its wrong that they do this to those who were granted the privilege, and its wrong that they don't allow those of us who were too young to earn that privilege. I like how the US does FA's. If you have to earn a privilege and don't think its a right you will respect it. Cross your T's and dot your I's or lose the privilege. Make the interested party jump through enough hoops that you know they don't want to lose that privilege and make the rules and consequences cut and dried so there can be no grey areas and let people be free to do as they want legally.

Again, this is not a "pet cause". This is a national issue, with wide sweeping repercussions and implications that deals with systemic issues in the CFC and their authority. It is this type of thing that the national bodies should be keying on, not trying to defend individuals who got their guns seized after a drug warrant or beating up their girlfriend.

Along with the SAP/ATT for prohib firearm firearm issue, this should be exactly what the national organizations should be keying on. The long gun registry did NOTHING to restrict movement, ownership or use of firearms. It was simply a window dressing piece of legislation that had the duck hunters up in arms, so that's where all the effort went into appeasing them. Absolutely NOTHING has changed since.

And BTW, my last contact with the NFA was with Dave T. Yup, a while ago. I asked him if there was any support I could obtain from the NFA regarding my Reference Hearing on a 12.4 Prohib challenge. I didn't ask for money, simply some time for viewing some reference material and/or case law documents. All I got from Dave was, "Sorry, but let us know how you made out".

This is the case with many. If you like, I can get you the contact info of your local NFA and CSSA rep, so you can discuss it with them. We discuss these type of things at various meetings all the time. They are discussed with the politburo frequently.

Makes me furious. My infractions were from making comments about my feelings on the RCMP. Im going to stop writing now before I get banned..............

Thank you. I can obtain the NFA number here in Calgary. Is there any CSSA rep in Alberta?

And I don't want to beat a dead horse, but on this other thread regarding the G22 and it's "bull-pup" stock, we are reading, verbatim what my thoughts were regarding the NFA and CSSA.

I don't know the other fellow, or his case other than what I have read, but it too is a big encompassing issue that seems to garner no assistance.

I hate the piling on, type of bashing for these organizations, but as per my previous thoughts, there doesn't seem to be any concern unless it is a friend or associate who is charged with shooting their neighbour's house by mistake. And then there is support from the Associations.

Time to be looking at the bigger issues.

koldt as you know we have always been our worst enemy...we as a firearms community just cant seem to completely unite ..it would be nice if we could ..
