My folding stock keeps falling apart

I just bought a used top folding stock. The first time I fired it the butt plate collapsed and I got a good kick to the face. At that point one of the little spring clips popped out. I had a bugger of a time finding a place that sold them. I ended up pinching the die cut tangs that are supposed to stop the butt plate from folding up. Only worked for a few shots and then it collapsed again. then the spring clip for the locking pin fell out.
Question? Do those spring clips wear out, would new ones hold better or should I put some ugly threaded bolts in their place?

Is it a Factory Remington top folder, Choate top folder or some other brand of top folder, some have the stock pieces made out of metal and some are made of glass filled plastic. A picture would help in making suggestions to help you. Automotive supply outlets like Lordco should have any sort of spring clip you could need.

I think the problem is fixed. It was factory manufactured, all metal parts. If this fix does not work I will post again.
