I took some people to the range today and one of the guns was my '52 laminated SKS from LeBarons. Pressed for time to get back we only maybe shot 20 rounds, (I had other guns with me) when I was packing up I tried to close the bolt on the empty chamber so removed the magazine released the bolt and tried to close the magsine, I couldn't and would get stuck an inch away. When I opened it all the way to see what was going on the magazine pin fall on the table! (so now I have a hole in the magazine, and I guess the proper capacity:runaway:)

did that happen to anyone esle??

If it were mine, I would get the hole weld repaired and refinished. Then I'd properly weld a rod to the carrier - the way it's SUPPOSED to be done, or alternately you could got the Yugo SKS method and epoxy some sheet metal into the mag bottom - LOL.

get the duckbill mag and dont repair yours. It replaces your existing one.

I do not think you should have to replace the magazine with a aftermarket mag because the pinning process is bad. I have repaired the original magazine in the past by tig welding the hole in the bottom of the mag and refinishing the metal, then Super Blue to match the rest of the rifle. I then re stamp the serial in the bottom of the mag, the font and size is real close.
There are several internal methods of pinning the magazine to conform to the 5rd rules. The whole process is time consuming but in the end if you take your time you will have a nice finished product to complement your SKS.

I would like to ask the importers of the Russian SKS's this, why the pinning process has to be so bad when there are other means of pinning that is not as time consuming and does not ruin the appearance of the mag.

The Chinese military grade SKS's that are in Canada now are internally pinned, so why not the Russians?

As to pinning process I actually worked with changing a pinning process and other importers don't. At least I did not hear about it. If you don't like my as you put premium SKS at collectors prices don't buy it, but don't put dirt on me or others it won't get you far.

This is why we get dealer membership. So that we can sell and you can enjoy this website for free. I don't have to hawk my stuff I sold about a hundred of those without even putting it on CGN. This is just a solution that I suggested for this person.

Regards,

Younever miss a chance to hawk your stuff do you?

let me make this absolutely clear . at CGN our policy are members and dealers alike are free to choose what ever price they wish for their item.
