Took a scoot up to Lebaron this evening to buy a crossbow stringer thingy, and while there I figured I'd pick up a couple boxes of 9mm and a box of .40 to add to my little stash at home. When I asked the girl @ the checkout if there was anything on sale(they usually have a deal on something or another), she told me they were totally out of 9mm and then walked over to the ammo shelves and brought back 5 boxes of .40...."and this is all the .40 we have left". Blew me away!...apparently the ammo shortage has found its way to Ottawa...wonderful! Well...I bought a 1 box of .40, a brick of .22 and my crossbow stringer thingy, and figured I'd leave the rest of the .40 for someone else as I have enough to do me for a while. Lebarons .22 supply wasn't looking too flush either....apparently 1/2 of what they usually carry. The girls @ the checkout are always really nice to me....so in spite of the ammo situation, I left with a smile :)

I have to admit that I bought into the panic early on. I knew it was just a matter of time before Canadian supplies started to dry up, and was able to casually squirrel away a tidy little hoard by picking up a couple boxes of 9mm and .40 every week. My stock of .22 will probably last me 5 years... as I typically pick up a brick every time I go anywhere near a sporting goods store. With mass panic buying and hoarding across the border,it will likely take upwards of a year or more for Canada to catch up once things calm down. My ammo is in good shape as we had lots of warning. Hope the rest of the lads here on the forum were able to get a jump on it too. The Canadian zombies tend to be a little smarter than their American counterparts....I hear they're wearing vests....

Fear Not, For the europeans and chinese will taketh care of your ammo needs with pleasure,,, SFRC, just got in 100k rounds of wolfe ammo .40 and 9mm in the mix. Have atter, no shortage except, if you must have American made ammo!

They've been out of all the good skeet target loads (AA's and such) for about the past two months. I cleaned them out of 28 gauge and that was two boxes at the time...

Orders of Wolf Bullets ammo rarely last more than 24-48 hrs and Wolf is pumping out ammo as fast as he can. I'm not sure what you mean by another imaginary sale on ammo...these days it sells out almost as fast as it comes in.

....and then you have to deal with SFRC.....no thanks.....Are they having another imaginary sale on it?

I was there a week or two ago

Remington 308 Managed Recoil -- out
Winchester 22 Mag HP -- out (not surprising as it is groundhog season)
Winchester 243 100g PP -- in
Remington 12 MR BuckHammers -- in

So 50-50, but the shelves looked a little bare.

I think that is why all the suppliers are low on ammo, but there is 100k more waiting for hoarderville to grab it up! I believe this is an opportunity for suppliers in Europe and China to step up and increase market share and places like sfrc are looking into these avenues as temporary or permanent replacements for the U.S. made ammo and firearms for that matter. No company can stay afloat selling guns for which there is no ammo! It would be good to hear from sfrc and other cgn sponsors on their search for alternate producers!

I was at the Ottawa Sail Store last week, no 9mm or 22 LR. In the past, I've purchased ammo at the Sports Action store before, you can call first? Sports Action, 1555 St Laurent Blvd Ottawa, ON K1G 1A1, Canada. 1 613-741-0999

I've been to Sports Action....they are a very small player in the Ottawa Firearms circle. Nice enough people to deal with, but they never stock anything. I've purchased 9 and 40 from them before....very limited selection.

Agreed, supply limited, purchased 50 rounds of 9mm "lawmen" in the $18-19 range. Last time I was there, they were having a restricted safety course.

LeBarons quite often sold out of most common calibres even before the panic buying and current shortages. To get any of the inexpensive 223 you had to have your name added to a waiting list. The cheaper 9mm ammo was gone within a week of coming in quite often. I tried to buy 308 there many times in the past couple years and they where sold out of all but the premium stuff almost half the time. Their shotgun target load also sold quickly before any ammo shortages because they are the cheapest in town.

As the saying goes; "LeBaron" is French for "out of stock".

I have placed dozens of orders with SFRC and can't remember ever having any kind of trouble getting them filled.
If it wasn't for SFRC I wouldn't have the ammo I have now. It's not like I can walk into the local hardware store and ask for a 1k of 40 S&W. When you live in the armpit of NL,
you have to order from the mainland. I have bashed dealers on Gunnutz before and all it's gotten me is grief from other members and a pissed-off store owner.
You want to complain about service from a business, complain to THEM.

I don't recall bashing SFRC....I just choose not to deal with them....besides, the post was about LeBaron....a company I buy a lot of stuff from. Here in Ottawa their prices on most firearms and ammo blow everyone else out of the water(including SFRC and Can Ammo). I was just voicing my disappointment that the ammo panic has caught up to my local ammo honey hole. I shoot .40, 9mm, .22 and a little milsurp 7.62x25, so I can't comment on the availability of other calibers. For me, part of the enjoyment of being a firearms guy, is heading out to the local gun shop or show and buying my ammo first hand to support the local dealers. Buying ammo online is for the birds, but if you're in the armpit of Newfie as you are, it may work out well for you. I no longer live in the armpit of NL....so I can jump in me rig and go get it myself.....most of my best impulse purchases have been made while picking up a couple boxes of ammunition.:)
