Fellows, I just put the finishing touches on my decidedly fungly, but totally comfortable and very functional bubba M14 stock. One of my slow winter projects; chu wood stock+ ergo AR grip + XXL Pachmyer recoil pad + primer/truck bed liner + lumber lock+4" galvinized finishing nails+ industrial velcro and I've got myself the most comfortable "truck gun" stock I've held, plus a handy spare mag. And it's light too; with two full mags it's lighter than a stock M14 empty.

The velcro on the mags doesn't affect function at all; the obviously built up area near the grip was reinforced with countersunk 4" galvinized finishing nails and a few layers of lumber lock.

And I can shake the hell out of it, or bang it around quite briskly, and the spare mag DOES NOT come out.

All this for about $100 ($40 for stock, $20 for AR grip, $20 for butt pad, $20 for supplies used up), in case anyone wants to make thier own.

And it's ugly so I won't be afraid to take it out and use it whenever the hell I want to.

Fugly is an understatement, but hey, if it works. Mine is kinda the opposite, I've got a nice fiberglass stock, but whoever put that thing together wasn't exactly gentle.

Well, it's certainly fugly...

But I like it...in a sick and twisted sort of way. It's obviously something that you built, exactly for yourself and your personal needs and desires, and it did not permenantly alter the gun (other than sacrificing a Chu stock and no one cares).

Good job.

If you could touch up the humps, smooth out a corner or two, and had a different finish, I daresay that stock could be quite attractive.

Form isn't worth the electrons dacing across my monitor as far as I'm concerned ... Function rules, and that thing of your's is all business ... I like it, a lot !
