I was at the range ysterday with my g21 gen 4 and had fired a couple of mags and everything was fine. Then I handed it to my father to try and his very first shot the mag fell out and a piece of plastic hit the bench. I then noticed a huge crack in the receiver and a few other things. I had to use a wooden dowel to get the slide back and the empty case out. The case had blown out the side near the bottom. Attached are 2 pictures one of the frame and one of the extracted case.

I was shooting very light reloads ie at the starting load. I was using 4gr of titegroup under 230 plated projectiles. Same as I have done for the pass 300 rounds though it.
I know it can't be repaired but does anyone have any idea where or if a new frame is available? I looked over the barrel and slide and it seems fine.

Glad to hear everyone's okay.

Call/ E-mail Glock and see what they have to say you may be pleasantly surprised.

If you're feeling really brave I'm pretty sure some JB Weld would fix that right up.

Why do your pistols always misbehave in the hands of beginners......Sod's law I guess....glad everyone is ok...will be interested to see what Glock say...

I'd be emailing glock but I don't reload so kind of a different boat for warranty.

As for the 1911 reference there is other metal frame handguns too you know.....fan boys.

Like my glocks,1911s and 92s, fan boy here too but equally on everything...

Double charge?
No charge round followed by another normal charge?
Bullet seating depth?

Catastrophic failure such as this is not a result of the firearm. Glad nothing serious transpired.

good thing 21 and 22's are on sale now for 599-620$...... ####ty, probably a double charge or something? Looks like the only part that blew out was near the feed ramp aka glock brass smile/bulge location?

I doubt a double charge (but not impossible) as the sound and recoil was as normal from me being only 2 feet away and watching. It wasn't a no load charge as it was the first round of a new mag and I shot the mag just before it and there where 10 holes in the paper.

how much do you clean it? Apparently out of battery detonation is "common" on guns that have not been cleaned regularly.
