Faswagon, where did you get the baikal? $$$??? I'm very tempted to pick one up, but have yet to have one in my hands... For me, the gun has to work, and doesn't have to be pretty, just extremely functional. The Baikal 153 seems to fit this bill from what I have been reading.

Anyone know if a rifled barrel is an option for these MP153 shotties?

Cheers
Jay

I got mine from Norris' Bait and Tackle in Westport ON. Picked it up two days ago. I believe he had a couple more there, also black with 28" bbl. he had one in camo for a while too, not sure if he still has it.

I'm no expert, and I'm pretty new to shooting, but it seems like a pretty good gun. Quite light, good feel, points well, comes with the 4 chokes I showed. I've only put about 30 rounds through it so far, but haven't had a hiccup with the action.

I got the gun as a versatile all around gun after reading many positive reviews. a 3.5" semi for under $550, that felt comfortable... I thought it was worth a try

Got the Mesa shell holder/rail through ebay from a company in the US it was 99.00USD (96CAD :D), 120.00 to my door. Shipping time 2 weeks.
A search for "Mesa Remington" brings up the options

Like I said, I'm far from an expert, but if anyone wants pics, or tests (within reason) of the Baikal/Rem let me know. I've had a few people ask for reviews when I mentioned I was expecting one soon.

I have the Grizz, and came awfully close to picking up the Baikal a year or two ago. Sure is purdy!

I went with a Beretta Pintail at the time as many people said the Baikal would not hold up.

Anyway, I think the Baikal is fine. I thought I might shoot trap a lot, so the Beretta seemed the way to go. Now with only a few hundred rounds down the tube after all of that time, it would not have mattered either way.

Let us know how yours is. I bet you'll be delighted.

I've gotten a few PM's about my sight. So i figured I'd post my review so far. I finally got out to the range today with the grizz, the sight functions well, 1 MOA click adjustment, multiple reticles (dot, circle-dot, crosshair, crosshair with circle)

I fired 15 x 2.75" slugs, 5 x 000 buckshot, and 3 x 3" slugs, the sight seemed to hold zero well.

4 shots from 50 yards

faswagon,

I just got an SPR last week as well. Just out of curiousity, do the groves on the top of the receiver line up straight with the vent rib? Mine appear to be cut into the reciever slightly crooked .. just curious if it's only mine or a common problem with the Bailkal/Remingtons

What type of battery does it take?

Sight: One 3V lithium battery (CR2032 or equivalent) -included
Laser: Three AG13 Button Cell - included

I didn't really notice before, but mine may be ever so slightly misaligned, the rib is maybe 1 mm right of the receiver grooves.

Dude.. We definitely need more info on this, what distance? what spread, 30 inch? Bench rested? Details dude, details...

Cheers & thanks
Jay

Freehand, 40 yards 28x28" paper. You can see looking down the barrel that the choke doesn't line up even inside the barrel it's off too one side.

Does your SPR453 shoot straight? My dads shoots about 4" to the left.

Interesting, I haven't really done much in the way of accuracy testing yet... just doing the recommended break-in still. I do know that it's deadly to clays on a stick at 50 yards with 3" BB Steel Shot. What would be best to test this? run a couple slugs through?, or screw in the extra full choke and see where the pattern is?

Faswagon, I'd bench the shotgun at the range to see where the pattern is. Using the shotshells your going to hunt or target shoot with.

Cheers
