My Grizzly @ Wildlife Designs in 150 Mile House

Many areas are very hard to get a draw in due to the draw odds everyone thinks that you have to go to the most popular coastal areas to get big bears but you don't have too remember salmon often run a long way inland.

There are many areas that have exceptionally good bears in them but very few people hunt them this is one of those areas the odds were 1.2 - 1 last year I don't know what they were this year.

Basically these are interior grizzlies that hang out in areas that have high salmon counts so are well feed.

So look for a remote area that has fairly good road access 1/2 way between the coast and the interior that have salmon runs and you will find low pressure draw odds and big bears go to far inland and the bears start getting smaller.

Steve @ Wildlife Designs just emailed me a pic of my finished grizzly hanging beside a smaller average size 7 1/2' Quesnel grizzly that my buddy shot about 2 weeks before me.

Steve is 6' tall...

It's finally home that is my younger son he is 2 years old today...

You guys remember how to judge a bears size you look at it's ears...

If the ears are big the bear is small, if it has small ears the bear is big, if you can hardly see the ears the bear is  ...

I don't kow where I'm going put it, right now it is on a queen size bed that it completely covers with the front feet touching the floor.

Hey CC, the first time you stumble to the kitchen in the middle of the night for a drink of water and stick your foot in his mouth, I bet you'll find wall space for him. Beautiful color, and a once in a life time trophy!

Edited to add . . .
must of already happened as you have him on the bed.

Camp Cook,

Awesome rug, how did the taxidermist finish on the bottom for you? i.e., batting, felt, etc...? I also see your little guy is into Thomas the Tank Engine line, or what I call the Crack Cocaine for Toddlers!:)

We figured it had been out of it's den for about 2 - 3 weeks tops and it still had about 1/2" - 1" of fat made fleshing it out a lot of work.

The snow had only just melted off enough to get into the area a couple days before and it was almost surprising how fast the snow was melting at the end of May.

Before we had headed up I had called the local resident firearms expert to get a snow report but he very surprisingly doesn't get out much so didn't have a clue how the snow packs were or what access was like.

I'm figuring the snow packs should be about the same again this year so we're not going back until the last few days of May.

Settled on a 70gr Nosler Ballistic Tip that I moly coat myself @ 3600fps from the 21" barrel.

If I do anything else it will be to rebarrel it to a 24" s/s barrel with a 1 - 10" twist I would like to use 90gr Swift Scirroco's.

wow! beautiful rug cook. i'm jealous. judging from the bear comparison pic, it looks like if you hung the rug linear, it would still fill a standard 8' wall from floor to ceiling. just incredible!

Unfortunately it is to big for a regular 8' wall, the front paws would extend out over the floor and out onto the ceiling...

I don't know where to put it all of my walls are only 8'...

Steve at Wildlife Designs tells me that I need a 10' X 12' wall for this guy.

strange how on my days off I dont have anything better to do than travel 4 hrs one way to check out how deep the snow is :D :D

Thats a good one you thought I was talking about you...

The person I was refering too lives less than 2 hours drive from were I shot this bear and would have known from past experience what snow conditions should be like in that area at that time of year.
