My HK USP had a catastrophic failure...

prior to this last bit of knowledge I couldn't imagine why that part would have broken, now it makes sense. As well, it wouldn't be covered under warranty for that no matter where you lived.
All that said, I'd go to HK directly through their FB or Twitter if they have twitter, account.
 
Yeah, I thought I mentioned it in my original post, but apparently not.

I dropped it on the ground from waist height at my house the day before I went to the range. gun was dropped as a whole, and unloaded. it slipped off my hand.



I still think HK still should replace the slide. Now if you threw it off a moving truck going down the highway at 100 mph, sure. But dropping it under gravity 2 maybe 3 feet tops, yeah you got a pos for sure.
 
It shouldn't have broke off like that . I'd be really angry . they aren't cheap pistols either . it almost looks like pot metal . and when I look at the top photo and the way it snapped off it looks like the steel wasn't heat treated properly . I hope all works out for you .
