My ISSC MK22

Not trying to hijack this thread in anyway. Don't remember if this has been brought up in any of the MK22 threads, but has anyone had any success ordering replacement parts for this rifle? According the retailer I purchased the rifle from, they and NS don't stock parts but to contact ISSC Austria. (3 emails = 0 response)

But to keep this thread on track, an answer Rootzee's question. I put the washer between part #76 and #77. Helped out considerably, and haven't noticed any ill effects. YMMV

I can't say I've had to reach out to ISSC for replacement parts. I always would have assumed my retailer would be able to help source out replacement parts as needed but it sounds like thats not the case. I did reach out at one point to see if/when they were planning on releasing the drum magazine but never did get a response.

As for Rootzee, keep us updated on how it goes. If all else fails, post lots of pictures here and on the FN. I'm sure between the 2 sites someone can help figure out what's wrong.
 
Will do. Works got me busy as hell, and I haven't had a chance to clean it since Friday. I'm going to start tearing it down tonight for a visual inspection, and likely the actual cleaning because I can't leave well enough alone. Update tomorrow after I reload some .357 ammo.
 
How do I tell if the MK22 I'm looking at is first generation or second gen? Curious, since I'm interested in this rifle, but not interested in a fragile buttstock! :D

Pretty sure almost any new purchased MK22 should have the fixed butt stock. The iron sights would also be a dead giveaway. If they are the metal ones that are pistol sights when folded down, it is most likely before they implemented the fixes. As for a serial number range to look for, I couldn't tell you.
 
I'm on the fence with this gun. I wanted an sr-22 for so long. Then thought more and more, and I'm not sure I'm interested in it any more. Then I wanted a browning lever 22, and I'm told it won't be available until 2014. Now I'm looking at this.

Is it worth it, do owners regret this purchase, or have any suggestions? Is there work to be done as soon as its purchased?

Some regret it, many don't. You would do well to read the threads on this gun as it outlines what generally needs to be done. If you want something that doesn't need any work at all then this isn't for you. As for whether or not its worth it, that would be something you would have to decide yourself.

SR22 is a very fine rifle as well and if you've fallen out of love with the tacticool 22, then i'm pretty sure you won't like this one either (unless there is something in particular that is drawing you to the MK22).

It was more the price to get it where I would want it. Then finding reliable mags. It would end up costing me over $1200, for really what is still just a 10/22. If I was going to spend that much I would just hunt down the ruger no.1 in .270 that I want.


Maybe after all this I should just get the henry I've been looking at, my brains all over the place on this .22 lr thing.

Generally speaking, 22 semi-auto is going to be less reliable than any lever or bolt action 22. Thats just how it goes. rimfire is pretty dirty stuff and has a tendency to foul up our action. I find a quick brushing of the breach and chamber at around the 300 round mark keeps it going at the range.

There is only 1 mag option for the MK22. It's OEM. The nice thing is that the mags for the MK22 are nice (imo) and feed pretty well. Just make sure the rounds are seated properly and the mag is fully inserted and you should be good to go.

The only money I have spent on mine thus far has been on accessories to make it pretty. I haven't really needed anything to make it run better. It's been documented many times on this rifle that trimming a spring and added some loctite is mostly all it needs.

So I added the nut on the hammer spring, and move the washer on the BCG last night. Went to the range with boys and I'm happy to report that other than 1 fail to feed, and 1 shell that got stuck halfway in the barrel, every single shot fired!
MK22 ran like a champ. Thanks everyone!

fchan, your MK22 looks great! How do you like the Eotech on it? I'm thinking of getting that or the Lucid HD7. I have to say the SCAR sights look awesome!

Another little issue I'm having is that the bolt won't hold open after the last round. Have to really push the mag up for it to hold open but if I let go it closes. Anyone else experience this? It's not a big issue.

Yeah, same here. I dont really care... my 10/22 doesnt, so Im used to it not being open.

Rootzee, Great to hear its running fine now. I'm glad you got it sorted out and didn't give up on it. I really like my eotech. They're a bit fuzzy to the naked eye (the 1moa dot is perfect though) but thats normal. Looking at it through a magnifier is perfect. Looks great. The lucid looks pretty nice too and the price is certainly more attractive than the eotech but I cannot speak from experience. For these rimfires though i'm pretty sure anything will hold up fine and work well, I felt like splurging a little to make it nice and pretty :) . I think with the Lucid, you will need a riser for a magnifier if you choose to go that way but you may want to confirm that on your own.

About the bolt not holding open, you may have to bend a small tab back in place.
Take off your lower and look for the circled tab. I've put some pictures in here that show its alignment. It is pressed up by the external follower tabs on your magazine thus holding the bolt open when last round fired. You can test it by depressing the tab and pulling back the charging handle. If it doesn't hold back still, then your problem is internal and the part should likely be replaced. I would take out the BCG at that point and make sure it catches the latch

From the sounds of it, either the tab isn't sticking down far enough (hence why you need to force the mag up to lock the bolt out) or the follower tabs aren't high enough. If this problem is common across all mags and you cant bend that metal tab back in place, maybe build up the follower tab on your magazine a little with some epoxy or tape to test. Make sure the bolt still closes with 1 round in still but locks out when the mag is empty though.

Range update. I didn't clean her well enough after my last session. Had a few light strikes and some feed issues due to a dirty mag.

Cleaned it up and took off a couple more coils. Total trimmed now is 4. I'm confident that this will alleviate any issues now.

I stand corrected on my previous statement that 2 coils trimmed was good enough for me. Upon closer inspection I imagine I could even trim a few more without fear of slam fire or other issues but I won't be doing that unless I'm having further issues.
 
Im looking at getting one of these. Anyone know of a place in the Calgary area that has them in stock? And my second question. Does anyone anywhere have the magazines in stock?

Is there a picture guide or video that shows how to access and which spring to clip? I had a few light strikes and would like to try the firing spring mod.
 
Had mine for a couple weeks now , hasn't fired 22 consecutive rnds since . Pretty sure I got a lemon , wolverine sounds like their goona repair/replace . But I guess we will have to see .

There is an exploded parts diagram as well that would be of help. If you take apart the BCG though, its pretty obvious which spring is adding striking resistance to the FP (there's only one inside the BCG that is in contact with the firing pin. If you've still got issues and cant find anything on the google, let me know and I might be able to conjure up something for you

Sucks to hear that, sounds like a lemon to me. Mine wasn't perfect out of the box but the problems didn't show until after the 300th round or so. If you have a chance, take a look inside to make sure all the bolts in there are tight. It's worth a shot.
 
To all you nay-sayers, check out the videos below

My final range report now, after having the total 4 springs chopped and removing the FP stop and magazine release safety I took it out to see how it runs. I was using Federal AutoMatch in bulk packaging. I was not cherry picking which video to upload, I only took 2 videos. First one is with 1 mag. Second one is after I saw the first one, adjusted how I used my phone to take the video and ran 2 mags through it. I also changed out to an AR muzzle brake I had around just for fun. I ended up putting a couple hundred rounds through this today with zero issues.



I wasn't shooting for accuracy, more so to make sure it was operating as it should. The picture below is what it looked like @ 25 yards after the videos were taken

All I can say is that this thing is a TON of fun! It was hard not to run it fast at the range. I'm very pleased with how things have turned out and this thing is going to see many many more rounds :)
