The rear base with the peep is a one off custom by PR precision. It’s a threaded peep with a set screw to adjust elevation and windage is zeroed by drifting the front.

The weight certainly ads up quicker than one expects. Stock is 2 pounds even, barreled action is 5 pounds. I swapped the bottom metal to the aluminum version already so that is another 6 ounces.
Scope with rings and covers is 1 pound 12 ounces. It’s not the lightest scope around but certainly not the heaviest either.

What are the details on the peep sight in the base?

How does a gun in a mcmillan with a 20 inch carbon barrel weigh so much though? That scope must be pretty heavy. I have a similar 338 wm, 20 inch in an edge fill mcmillan sako aiii and it's 7.5lbs with a 1.5-5x vx3

Edit: I can't read apparently, I missed "loaded" and the custom part.

I asked PR about a custom sight for a build a few years back and he told me doesn't do custom work anymore, lucky guy.

How much does it weigh with just the bases and no ammo out of curiosity?

I re-weighed things again this morning on a better scale, wasn’t far off the other but a little different. The rifle with no scope is right on 7.5 pounds (119.8oz.)

In my books that's a pretty heavy scope, different strokes though.

Very cool gun, I like the rear sight a lot.
