I ordered a James River Armoury M1 Garand last fall from Wanstalls and had to wait a little extra time because I wanted a Winchester receiver. It arrived last week and I want to thank Garry at Wanstalls for the great service and putting up with my nagging emails. "Is it there yet?" "Is it there yet?"
I don't want to get into a debate about JRA, reproductions, history, etc etc. I have heard it all before and I see both sides of the debate. BUT I bought it to shoot and that's just what I am going to do Saturday!
I will say IMO JRA does a quality refinish job. The stock is beautiful. I was in the Canadian army and used a C-7 and I have a new respect for the men who carried M1 Garands in WW2. This thing is a beast. I couldn't imagine lugging it across Europe. That new appreciation for the vets is worth every dime I paid.
Oh yea, one last thing... that "ping" sound is really cool!
