My KSG (Short Review + Large Pictures)

Finally waited for 2-3 years (can't remember because I lost track) and after being 38th place at Wanstalls it has arrived.... I was told by Dan that this was Generation 2.

Things I liked about it.
-Lightweight
-Short
-All parts were very well made even the plastic.
-Cheek weld area was thick metal
-Surprisingly well balanced (Unloaded)

Things I did not like about
-Trigger, grip basically the entire lower receiver (for those who own AR-15's) is polymer
-Hand grip was hollow
-The pump foreend is also plastic

In the future I hope that Kel-Tec get's their **** together and make ALL of it metal. I'm sorry I'm a 1911 kinda guy. If you are a Glock user, you're going to love it to death.
I hope that Kel-Tec does see what I have to say because the design is 5 stars out of 5 but the materials they used is 2 stars out of 5.

I will fire it this weekend and I'm sure that the other reviews are correct in its smoothness of operation.

Cost was $1099.99 but after my $200 deposit and taxes etc. it comes to $1017.99. Pictures below!

All dressed for now.. Please leave a comment whether I should leave the MOE grip on or not. I'm thinking of taking it off to prevent the plastic bottom rails breaking.
 
You bought a Keltec and are disappointed to learn that they're primarily made of plastic?

LOL.

Nice gun, man. Not my thing (and I'm a big "plastic" guy), but I hope you really enjoy it after a wait like that.
 
I didn't know that the lower trigger area was polymer. I only thought the forend was plastic. Oh well. It doesn't change the fact that when you pull the trigger, it goes bang. Afterall these plastic components DO make the firearm lighter.

Dude, Keltec is FAMOUS for making really ingenious firearms that sometimes work and sometimes don't out of primarily plastic.

They must own stock in DOW or something.

I have a Sub2000. The only thing that's metal on that gun is the barrel and the buffer tube. LOL.

And actually, plastic isn't the correct term for what Keltec calls this material. I think they refer to it as a "composite resin", or something like that.
 
All will be forgotten & forgiven (when it comes to the plastic parts) after your first range visit!!!

Yes, there are plastic parts, but the KSG is one slick & compact 15 round pump action 12 ga!!!

I have added a choke tube adapter, MagPul BUIS and an EOTech EXPS-3 to mine. FRIGGEN SWEET!!!

KelTec is known for plastic guns, like Glock... so that's like buying a Glock and saying it's great but I wish they wouldn't use plastic and would get their stuff together and make it out of metal...
plus using metal would drastically increase the weight, depending on the materials, most likely increase the cost as well.
 
It takes up to 6 months to a year to get in quality rifle parts sometimes.......you don't see dealers ripping people off, but hey if people are willing to pay 2 grand for a plastic shotgun then have at it.
 
It's all about supply and demand. I sure as hell won't pay $2000+ for a KSG even though I want one. May as well ban people for rediculous low ball offers as well. For some they are willing to pay, but not me. I'm around a year away from my KSG , and put the other grand on a T97NRR or what ever they are calling them now.
 
In for the OP buying a glock and complaining it's not all made of metal either.

I don't know if I'd run that RVG on the forearm after all the reports of the rails cracking.
 
I'm going to put a pic riser rail on the bottom foregrip "rail" just to be safe. It should evenly distribute the torque from the vert grip across the entire plastic "rail".

Dude, you must really want one, but can't get one, so you're spreading this dirt in every KSG thread..

KSG has a low profile bottom rail, so not every vertical grip will work.. You have to check it before installing it on the gun, if you tighten it and it fits well, it will never brake, but if the grip has tall lips , it will push against the handguard as you are trying to tighten it, and eventually will bake the rail off... As simple as that. Just buy a right grip..

Oftentimes, knowing and learning the truth really hurts. I could already have owned a few if I really want them but have to turned down my reservations. I am just a smart and practical fellow who wants every pennies worth from what I am buying. There are people who really can't accept reality in the first place. Maybe spend more time searching for reviews for this plastic shotgun to enlighten you.
