My KSG (Short Review + Large Pictures)

prices are getting lower & lower on the EE......$2000, $1900, $1550 :) Couple hundred dollars lower price will be down to where it should be
 
All dressed for now.. Please leave a comment whether I should leave the MOE grip on or not. I'm thinking of taking it off to prevent the plastic bottom rails breaking.

Unless the pump was hard to use, I'd skip the front grip and put a light on the lower rail.

KSG has a low profile bottom rail, so not every vertical grip will work.. You have to check it before installing it on the gun, if you tighten it and it fits well, it will never brake, but if the grip has tall lips , it will push against the handguard as you are trying to tighten it, and eventually will bake the rail off... As simple as that. Just buy a right grip..

Absolutely correct - rail rupture is caused by ill fitting non picatinny spec aftermarket grips.
Those will crack all non aluminum rails and distort aluminum ones.
The magpul moe has 2 crossbar contact points and the claw fits into the rail slot without pulling down on the rail. Mine has been flawless with vigorous pumping of my KSG.

Bottom line, I await for KSG to make a Generation 3 or 4 that will incorporate a metal/aluminum bottom rail. As many of you stated that I am "unhappy" with this shotgun, I never got to hold the KSG beforehand or see/fire one either. My review is only a heads up for those that don't own one or to really let out what "I" think of the KSG. It is an incredible design. It just lacks the one main part and that is the foreend being completely metal (but the cost will be much more to the buyer). A metal trigger would be good aswell but the polymer works fine.

Don't get me wrong, the KSG has quite a lot of metal. I can't wait to shoot it this weekend. And yes, I removed the front grip to prevent me complaining of breakage.

I have personally owned 6 ksg's within the last year, I kept 3 and sold 3 and I have nothing negative to say about any of them, all have performed well, and are very well built. Who cares if they are mostly polymer. Some of you ksg haters make it sound like every single piece is plastic. All the main components are metal, the pump is polymer just like an 870, the trigger is polymer who cares, the grip and trigget housing is plastic just like the 870 and would want to lug around a solid steel shotgun? Cause I sure wouldn't.

Having a bunch of KSG won't change the issues that had been addressed by numerous owners. Keltec should find ways on how to improved the quality of their materials to make it worth owning.

Who are these numerous owners? You make it sound like every one breaks, I have had 6 with grips on all of them and never had an issue and that's because you have to put the right ones on, the shorter grips are great it's the longer thinner grips are the ones that might brake the rails if you are just hammering on them
 
very good review overall, and the only complaints were about materials which the company is known for

I just wish there were either more available for everyone (I would love to own one but I'm not going to pay higher than retail) or fewer people buying multiple ones (like some guy buying six and selling three at @$$ raping prices but that's our caplitalistic money hungry greedy society) just to sell them at a profit... just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Guys, I'm curious. I can see 3 for sale on the EE at the moment two of them around 2000 and one for just under 1700. Do they actually sell? I have a hard time believing they sell for the asking price. It would be interesting to see what they end up selling for.

3 of mine sold for $2700.00, $2400.00 and $2300.00
 
buddy of mine tried to get on the waiting list for KSG at a local gun shop this morning. They said He is #320 and they only get 8-10 every 2-3 month.. So he'll have to wait 3+ years.. LMAO
 
I picked up my new KSG Friday. Taking it out tomorrow night for some fun.

I wasn't on a list, I just overpaid for one, actually made a trade deal for it on the EE.

Cant wait, hope You guys get one soon too (but it won't be mine!)
 
Lanz just emailed me today... my KSG is ready... ;)

Kinda glad I passed on the Fabarm Martial Pro force and 14" Benelli Super Nova I almost bought.... I have a terrible shotgun addiction though...time to clean the stable! :)
