No idea about how many were made, but brother that is a mighty fine rifle. I would love to have one. She sure is a beaut!

I handled another model of browning lever rifle the other night at a store and was very impressed with the quality and workmanship...I sure with I had the extra $1000 siting around.

Nice rifles.

71 Winchester by Browning

The 71 is a great rifle. They are very well made. Put a good Lyman peep on it (yours has the two screws on the left side of the receiver), and go hunting. The 348 Winchester is a good cartridge.

That's nice!! Very nice! I knew Browning had made the model 71 but I wasn't aware they had made a high grade carbine model. The Winchester model 71 is my favorite lever gun/caliber combo and a number of years ago I had a standard model Winchester. I sold it, regretted it and not to long ago was lucky to pick up another, a Winchester model 71 deluxe. Recently I picked up a set of original detachable sling swivels for it.

I reload for it, cast and jacketed. The two cast bullets I have for it are a 230grGC and a 265grGC. Jacketed, Hornady 200gr FP, Barnes originals in 220gr & 250gr and have recently acquired two boxes of old 200gr Winchester Silver Tips.

I look forward to giving it some serious 'exercise' this fall. Recommendation for yours? Take it out, shoot it and enjoy:).

I don't think they made a carbine (I tried to get one when they came out), but I had a rifle for a while.....Still have the plain Jain carbine....Nothing better to pack in the woods .

If I remember right the number was 1200, but its been a lot of years and the fog is thick.

I regret selling mine.

Nice gun, I always liked a 71, really just an evolution of an extra lightweight 86. Any of you guys that own them, are they hard kickers off the bench? What would they be comparable to recoil wise?

Don't shoot it, just go buy a grade 1 for beating on and hang that one on the wall for bragging on. Its a work of art, even though an Asian country is tattooed on the bbl the worksmanship is traditional, don't waste.
