After the Cdn Government announced that the Cdn Rangers would be replacing their trusty Lee Enfields as the parts supply was running out, I found a Long Branch Lee Enfield at a gun show I would like to share with every one. It is a 1945 Long Branch No4 Mk1*. To me it looks brand new.

Moose Jaw gun show a couple of weeks ago. Came out of a private collection. The dealer told me he had owned it for about 20 years and decided to sell it. It was missing a couple of minor parts (since found and installed). It has a 2 lands and groves barrel and all the parts are "L" marked or have a C broad arrow. The transit box did not come with the purchase, I thought it would make good window dressing for the pictures.

The Cdn Rangers have been issued the LE No4 Mk1* since they were formed back in the '40's. They are now about to get a new rifle only because the official parts supply is starting to run out of spares for the LE No4 Mk1*. How many Long Branch LE No4 Mk1*'s are still in work stock reserve, I wonder???

Just seems odd to me that it would have a walnut butt and the fore end furniture is birch, not to mention the target swivel on it.

your not the only one to notice that...

I suspect it may be a desporterized rifle.

as for the chest... the run of the mill No4 rifles did not come with their own cases. I would be interested in the markings on that chest.
