My leupold doesn't track...... anyone else have this problem.?

Bought a freedom 3-9x40 with the CDS.

3 boxes of 30-06 out of my sako A7, and she won't pass the box test or hold zero. I've heard guys in other forums say this is also a problem with other, more expensive, current production loopys.

I was under the impression that leupold made bomb proof scopes as we saw for decades. What's going on now?
 
What’s your your torque settings? What rings?

My friend had a similar problem recently, he used the factory mount settings and it wasn’t tight enough.
Cheap vortex rings though.

I have a freedom 3-9 that is not holding zero either. Have 3 other Freedoms that are all fine, maybe this one’s just a lemon. I guess it’s going back to Korth, hopefully can be fixed.
 
Try with another set of rings and/or another rifle. If it fails send it for repair. Make sure rings are tightened to spec.
 
Send it in - we'll diagnose and correct the issue.

The Cabelas gunsmith installed it for me. I talked with him for a few mins and he seemed to know what hes doing.

Absolutely --- and keep in mind that if the OP has multiple Leupold scopes, he can send in a batch for inspection/repair/cleaning/recalibration and save a bit on the shipping. I sent in 5 scopes to Korth last year and received excellent service.
 
I just attempted to reach out to Korth and discovered he's unable to receive messages. Weird, I just spoke with him via private message around end of January, beginning of February.

Anyone else try to reach him here lately?
 
Check the ring cap gaps.
Make sure they aren't sqwinched on one side and more gap on the other.
I've purchased a couple of rifles, scoped with Leopolds that didn't track very well.
Took it apart and restart the scope install process.
Cured the problem on both.

Appreciate the suggestions Kamlooky, but I looked into that and nodda. I mailed him my scope on Saturday. I was just wondering why he's recently unable to accept messages here.

No idea why the issue on private messages, but I will say a friend warrantied an over 40 year old Leupold recently in Okotoks and was very happy with the service and result.
