Well my project is done, a muzzle break for my M1A to replace the flash hider.

Since it was pointed out to me I should post it openly here you go ;)

My Muzzle break is made of 4140, 22mm in OD to suit the "evil" golf ball launchers, and threaded to suit the muzzle. The tap used to tap to suit the muzzle was a VERY expensive tap (oddball size custom made by a good tooling company just for me). It is both drilled to 3/8" as are all M1A/M14 muzzle breaks then reamed with the proper #7 Taper reamer (like National Match Flash Hiders are done). Testing with a air nozzle shows it to be effective. :D

Yes the muzzle break will thread what ever orientation it wants since the thread are not timed, however looking at my options I opted for a custom fitting of slowly filing the thread off the break to suit and locating it radially that way.

Will have to pick up a Smith Enterprise GLFS before I install it on my rifle. As without it my rifle would not have a front sight anymore. :(

I will once I get a Smith 22" GLFS to replace the front sight. Which may be a while, can't see myself spending that kind of money on one right now. ;)
