My local Canadian Tire sells Imperial Ammo

They cheaped out with the boxs. Old boxs were all different for each shot size. These they use the same box and put a sticker on them for the shot size. And the old stuff never had a maple leaf on it.

I remember Canadian tire selling this stuff right when the steel shot law became mandatory for waterfowl, they sold it for about two or three years and then I didn't see it anymore. It actually was pretty good stuff but only available in 2 3/4.

Imperial was never a manufacturer. Only a CIL, then IVI brand name.
20 rounds has been a standard for years. Got caught short of ammo with a 20 round box I thought had 25 at a pin/plate shoot long ago. We were not amused.

interesting.. I'll keep an eye out. But it's obviously a new manufacturer that seems to be trying to capitalize on the Imperial brand name. Those annoying 20 round boxes were a cost-cutting measure back in the '80s. Only lasted a few years and I was glad to see the idea get dropped. Disappointed to see that it's back. Just another way to trick customers who don't look closely... and why would they? The standard is 25 rounds/box.

That's what I thought .
Didn't CT have their own brand of shotgun shells made for them ?
Maybe they bought the Imperial trade mark . Can't get more Canadian than that ;)
Now if only they would start making 22 rimfire

I loved the .22lr in those plastic slide open containers that made loading a cooey tube fed a dream!

20 rnd is the metric size

I bought four boxes recently it's made in st Justine de Newton Quebec that's the same place as challanger ammunition

Bought some today when I was in town. 4 boxes of #4 steel 1 1/8OZ @1450 fps. 2 3/4". Head stamp clearly says Challenger Canada. They are Imperial only in name but are still excellent quality loads with round shot and heavy shot cups. Also Challengers decent hulls. My CTC also had them in lead shot with the great #5 present. They also had them in 20 gauge. My store is also stocking cases of Challenger target loads in 12 and 20 gauge @ 69.00 a case. Nice to see quality Canadian ammo at decent prices. I will do a field report on the steel loads for a later post.
