That’s a nice looking widow. I prefer the non numbers matching Lugers as you can shoot them without degrading their value. It’s so hard to find a genuine numbers pistol these days, I’ve seen ones that have been machined down and re stamped. It looked original till I pulled out my micrometer and the toggle block was .013” thinner than it should be. Gotta be really careful today. And of course due to our laws most of the Lugers are getting welded or aftermarket barrels. Terrible shame to destroy such a historic firearm. All that nonsense has completely killed their value and of course there aren’t that many prohib holders left in Canada so the real deal Luger that’s unmodified has a limited market. I luv these pistols and really hate what’s happening to them in Canada. I almost rather see some of them go to the states as they’ll survive there a lot longer. I myself would never buy an original just to swap out the barrel, these pistols should stay in their original form. Congrats on both those Lugers in the above posts, both are nice and clean and have their own features. Also on a side note a lot of the Lugers were mismatched when they were picked up off the battlefield. My grandfather was in ww2, he was a flak 88 gunner and he himself along with other soldiers would strip their Lugers and P38’s for that matter. They would exchange parts with each other to make their pistols smoother as the late war ones were pretty rough. He got to keep his and showed me all the parts he changed. It’s long gone now and this was back in Hungary where I’m from. It’s crazy how much they modified all their firearms in the field. The SS officer that was in charge of them had polished all the internals of his Luger. But when your sitting in a tree line waiting for orders you’ve got the time to do all that haha. The nice thing is that there are so many of these out there that parts are readily available and you can usually be up and running a week after you break something, mind you their pretty durable. One of my older models gets shot every weekend and it’s still going on the 75+ year old parts, now that’s German quality haha. Enjoy your Lugers and send some rounds down range!
