Personally, I find little difference between a 9mm and .40cal in the same pistol as far as recoil/muzzle flip is concerned. Both are high-pressure cartridges that will result in very similar recoil/muzzle flip. To suggest that a .40 is "worse" for either than a 9mm is somewhat of an exaggeration. I mean, a .44mag has "worse" recoil and muzzle flip than a 9mm...but a .40? C'mon.....

I would reload if I could find the time between working all the time and giving time to my kids in their sports activities and the quality time they want, and I enjoy with them.
I am working on setting up a group buy on 9mm mags, proper 17 rounders, pinned. I need 50 mags to get it off the ground, and am just waiting on customs to respond to my request on clarification on rivets being ok to limit the mags.

I just bought a 40 model and range tested it for the first time and must conclude that when evalualating a new service pistol,it can not even remotely be compared to a target piece simply because target triggers are superior,plain and simple.Secondly double action versus single action,again no comparison in most cases of specimens with double action autos.Barrel quality will always be a factor for the target piece dominating the field.It also has a bearing in where you have just come from in terms of your most familiar handgun.For me having shot the 10MM auto almost exclusively for the past 15 years and then stepping down to the power level of a 40 is most agreeable and I personally happen to like the M&P for all it's innovations making it especially friendly towards lefty's and the option equip a weapon light easily is desireable.This gun is very user friendly
I read thru this post, but what about the trigger? I am curious if this would be a good pistol for my 14 Y.old son. Does the grip piece for the smallest grip actually fit smaller hands?

The trigger is not hard to squeeze. My point was that it was much different then the DA/SA triggers I am used to. It's about 6.5 lbs.
If you're 14 yr old son is going to be using this gun I would say to go with the M&P9.
Apparently the mag release change to left is quite simple, but I have not tried it.
Holsters?? Probably one that fits a Sig or HK may work.
Mags: Two mags manufactured by MecGar come with it but have plastic bottoms. I have heard they can break when dropped onto concrete. Replacements could be a issue.
