Hey guys =)

Just wanted to post some pictures of the paintjob myself and signguy did. We took some pictures on the bear hunt so here they are! We started with cadpat, but couldnt get the right paint colour and when we did it dripped like crazy and looked really bad. So we just OD'd it and went with a branches/vines thing. I love the look of it !

My M14 is in the center, with signguys no4mk1 sporterized, and Jmassons fullwood & matching SMLE.

The stuff on it for the people who care:
synthetic stock, R33 cheekrest, marstar mount, r33 oprod, butlercreek comfort stretch sling, a *cough* leuopold scopewannabe from 1337 tactical, 5/10mag from springfield armories.

My guns broke 2 scopes already (one within 3 shots believe it or not! :/) and with 125rds+ this one is holding zero fine and nothings broken on it. Very recommended! :)

^^ just had to show off signguys copyrighted cheekrest. I can vouch the ease of install, use and comfyness of it. I believe he is marketing them now.

I still must OD the screws and file off a little bit of one.. then im set.

Foo-ook...

Neither of the 'painted' rifles looks bad at all...pretty nice actually

Apparently using genuine leaves and foliage to 'mask' each layer of paint is the way to go (easy way to go)

Start with the darkest color...black usually

I did a 14ft springbok boat the same way with cattails and canadian tire cam paint..... sprayed the cattails with laquer and let them dry before you use them or you get fuzzies all over the place on the wet paint... that only happended when I reached for my beer six or eight times.... hehehe...
Nice job..

How did the scopes Break? I broke two once on my 300 win. It was due to incorrect mounting. I had the front ring partially on the area where the bell starts to form. after a couple of shots the front lens either broke or became dislodged. From your pics It looks like your front ring is very close to the start of the bell too.

The first one was kind of junky and then my newbie shooting friend dropped my rifle on hard rock :/ :runaway:

the second popped off within 3 shots at the range.. i was pretty pissed off! I could have killed these guys -> :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

And what is the bell?:confused::confused:

Very nice paint job! Good work!

thanks :)

Okay then no it wasnt because the rings were too close to the bell.

currently I have about a centermeter before the bell actually starts to form...

with no problems so far I really do not want to touch the scope :D

Hey The Big Mike...I've been wanting to replace my wood M-14 stock with a synthetic one but I haven't been able to find any reasonably priced ones. All I've seen are the Sage EBR stock and the Macmillan stock both pretty expensive. Can U help me out?

stocks

hey bro .. check out the exchange forum. You want a USGI synthetic stock in good condition with all the metal. You will pay $150 to $180 for an EXCELLENT one. Might take time to find, but they are NO WHERE near the price of Sage or JAE

good luck in your search!

:D

are you dialing up and down? does that 1337 hold zero after using the dials ? or are you getting different a POI after where 'zero' should be?

HP

It holds it decently enough...

but after trying out the 3200 I think I found what i enjoy most.

the value offered by the 1337 is good, though.

I don't see how anyone could buy a scope that breaks after three shots. There is no value there. You can get a real Leupold with a lifetime warranty for a reasonable amount of money. My two cents. I just hate cheap scopes on anything other than a rimfire.

the so called "cheap scope" survived just fine on my m14.

Id I'm ever going to get another m14 it will definately be WITH one of the cheap scopes.

Why bother wrecking a nicer one?
