I seem to have the same M14 addiction that many of you have. I finally got both my M14's pretty much how I want them. The only thing left is maybe have the stock on the shorty recoated.
What do you think?

1) 2007 Norinco
-Boyds stock
-Boyt sling
-unitized gas system
-Rouch spring guide
-Hungry M14 clinic treatment
-M1 Garand rear sight

2)2009 Norinco
-USGI stock
-Turner sling
-spring guide (still in the mail)
-Hungry M14 clinic treatment (done at home)
-ARMS 18 scope mount with Millet rings
-Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 **** Now has a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40*****
-Barrel shortened to 18 5/8"
-AR style flash hider
-Gaslock front sight

WOW!

That boyds 1 beautiful! Well done sir. Well done ;)

The 2007 had the chu wood stock and the 2009 had the plastic. It totally changed the rifles by changing the stock. They feel so much better to hold/handle/shoot. Not to mention look a whole lot better.

Good Day

Those two ladies look dressed to kill, very nice, I love the 07 in the Boyds walnut stock, beautiful simply beautiful.
My 09 will be in one of those very soon.

Take Care

The picture doesn't do the wood justice. If you are getting a Boyds stock you will be very happy with it.

Do the camo job we talked about asphalt...easy as shizzle really and turned out great.I really like your work on the new shorty and I see you got another sling but darker this time did you dye it?...And your right the pictures dont do your Boyds stock justice..looks good in the pics better in person...well while I was holding it..lol

Couple ###y ladies right there! I'm on a similar path and you sir an in inspiration.

Not sure if you plan to drag either around in the bush, but how did you decide you wanted your optics on the shorty vs full length? Do you have a sppecific use in mind for either?

Again, those are beautiful.

The Boyds was the first one. I just really liked the lines of it without a scope so i put the Garand sight instead.
Both may make it into the bush from time to time.

The 22" also has a longer sight radius...
But to me a shorty M14 is good from 20 to 500m. That 3-9x scope reduces it's close range effectivness. It's your business however and if you use it only in open area that's perfect.

Did you refinish your Boyd's wood stock? I just got mine and I'm rather disappointed with it. Can't say that it merits all the hype. It will probably be fine once I sand it down to get rid of the tooling marks and rough spots... Do most people refinish theirs?

No thats how mine showed up. no tooling marks, even finish. Not sure what finish they use but I was very happy with mine just the way it showed up.

I forgot yours isn't black any more.
The sling is one of the Turners like the one hungry had on his garand. Black Biothane (hungrys was OD green) I have an OD green in the mail for my 700 VSF right now.
