Well heading out Sat to do some testing with a few different types of .308 150 grain and less ammo.

Installed my TAC PRO cheek riser, my UTG 20mm handguard, removed the charger clip for the rear 20mm scope block, and a spare bipod (still waiting for my funky one).

Used some thread locker on the handguard mount screws so guess I will see how this baby shoots Saturday. If the scopemount/scope is bad I will move back to the irons.

Anyways here is before and after pics.

Thanks guys I shot 80 rounds just flawless, but my scope, rings, gave me issues, used my irons and at 100m nothing was safe.

70.00 shipped from Botach for the UTG handguard incredible value as you get the handguard, 20mm rail covers, and the stripper clip mount plus it really bolts up tight.

How did you find the height alignment between handguard and rear rail?
Have installed a few for guys recently and found a significant difference withe rear rail section a few millimeters lower. Is this the same for everybody ?

I'm surprised Botach shipped to you. They told me anything M14 was ITAR controlled

I've got two of them, the first one aligned up perfectly and the second one the rear rail was actually higher, so I used a file and took a little off of the rear rail face that slides into the stipper clip guide and it worked good. I have had no issues with sighting in or long range scope adjustment.

great looking rifle!

Thanks guys had lots of shooters asking about the short barrel.

The rails both lined up fine getting the stripper clip block out was tough.

Yes I was curious about the ITAR issue but to me the ITAR thing is goofy. It applies to tanks and aircraft yet the US imports these rails from China and can't ship to Canada but I can order directly from China??????

I tried to order a .22 rimfire conversion kit for my CAR-15 that was denied. :(

Or well amazing how these shortys work with irons I think I am going to install a low powered long eye relief scope next.
