My M305 went kaboom

Very first line of the original post, second sentence. "Load was American Eagle (Federal) 150gr FMJBT."

Even if you don't read 9 pages of replies, shouldn't you read the first post?

You incorrectly assume that factory ammo is always loaded properly. I said nothing about personal handloads. Although I have little experience with .308, I have seen this in other calibers with either excessive powder/incorrect powder loads straight from the factory. I'm was just making a personal observation.

I had the "same thing" happen sans a few details. The brass looked the same, but the rifle was an Lee Enfield no. 4. Tough as nails they are. Had zero negative effect except the brass separating. My guess, things happen, but I distinctly remember muttering to myself, ...good thing it was a bolt action and not a semi auto.

The Norincos and Polytechs are actually much closer to the real thing than the M1As are with their crappy cast receivers.

Do you have first-hand experience to verify this? Or are you just another one of the "My norinco is better that its American-made counter-part because I want it to be and because I don't like the idea of me having wasted my money on a lower-quality chinese product" club members?

Think it's pretty common knowledge that the Norinco forged receivers are better then the current cast receivers of the latest springfields.
Modern Springfields should not be confused with Mil spec M14s.
I'm not saying that norinco are better in all departments just this one. It's my understanding that SEI won't build a rifle with springfield receivers.

Yeah OK So how many Norinco rifles have been sold in the last 15 yrs US None and exactly how many Springfield rifles have been sold in the US ???? . I am pretty sure given the numbers of Springfields sold in the US and the number of Norinco sold in Canada and there failure rates I would say that they are pretty much equal on failures per thousand

Just a disclaimer. I'm on the "this s**t happens to any gun made by any one" camp.

So yea. Don't be naive. Oh, and here's some more:

Doesn't just happen to Springfield. Here's a Armscorp:

Those are the ones that people bothered to put on the internet. Imagine how many that did not.

perspective

I,m sure I,ll hear a lot of rebuttal from all the self annoited experts , but to keep the facts in play as opposed to rumor, Springfield M1a receivers were and still are made in Quebec Canada, I,m not at liberty to name the company as its rather a large supplier to DOD. I beleive any QC problems were cleared up years ago. I own and have owned more than a few norc,s bearing in mind that the receivers were made decades ago for lower pressure Nato rounds, I have found hardness on PRC receivers to vary to some degree.

Rate and quantity have nothing to do with each other. Can you support your statement with actual published failure rates?

If you can't then you are just guessing based on what you believe to be the case because it fits your view of the world.

Is the Springfield receiver cast? Yes.
Is the Norinco receiver forged? Yes.

Which is preferred for receivers? Forged

Quality control is another story but the manufacturing process puts the Chinese receivers ahead.
