I got many good suggestions here on everything I wanted to do on my Mosin, (Thank you)
I promised to put up some pictures. Progress was slow, life busy, and it toke me
quite a long time to set it up the way I wanted it, but there it is.
There was no permanent modifications made to the rifle, except refinishing the wood.
This is how it looks now.
The shellack was peeling off of the wood so I stripped it of did a light stain, and applied a few coats of varnish.
Some buttons of my camera stooped working so I could only shoot in auto mode, so I toke pictures with and without flash.
This is the Bass Stacker scope mount. It is rock solid and no need to do any permanent modifications.
Also the iron sights are still usable.
The rubber recoil pad really makes it an enjoyable rifle to shoot. Worth every penny. imho
The cheek rest is one of my projects.
I made it out of tooling leather, Molded it to the contour of the stock, and waterproofed with my secret waterproofing agent, that also gave it this nice color.
The scope is a cheap-o pistol scope. (Thank you Marstar)
I only refinished the stock because the peeling shellack, so while refinishing the stock I did not remove any markings or ding of the wood.
Right side of the Cheek rest.
The lacing on the cheek rest is just a piece of gutted paracord, but I will replace it with some leather cord as soon as I get around to buy some.
My wife say she doesn't like to look of the new finish.
What do you think? How did it turn out?
Any comments, complaints, compliments welcome.
The only thing I might do is duracoat all the metal parts. What do you think about that?
Thx for looking.
