My gopher gun I bought for my camping trip.... Marlin 917VR (.17HMR), Tasco 24X Scope, Harris Bipod, and Uncle Mikes Sling. The whole thing plus rings, soft case, and 500 rds of ammo came to 700 at Wholesale in Calgary, the gun was cheap 250! Best shot was around 250 to 275 yards. I never thought I'd have that much fun shooting gophers.

Thanks, I when we were out shooting, it became apprent to me that I bought the wrong bipod. I bought the brench rest model which was kinda hard to shoot prone at certain angles, but it was still alot of fun.

Beautiful rig! I just bought a .17 Savage recently myself, and still haven't had a chance to go gopher shooting with it...:( Perhaps soon.

Best wishes, Jeff.

Shooting gophers is about the best shooting ive done to date. I dont care to hunt one bit but gophers are pests so its all good IMO. 17 HMR is without a doubt the best rifle to take out gophers. I suggest you get out there and start bloopin a few asap.

I have a Marlin 917 mach 2 with a 3x9x40 Tasco mag Paid $225....I'm glad you mentioned the bipod..I'm going to get the longer generetic one..best shot I can do is max..125 yds... groups one inch at 100yds. haven't tried it out on any gophers yet near Calgary
