well here she is! My Marlin 989 M2. My hubby spoiled me and got this for me on our trip to Edmonton. It was sitting at Cabela's. Price was right, and it is in great shape. I can not wait to get it out to shoot! Still doing some research into it to find out some info on it. So if anyone has any info to share I'd be more than happy to hear it!

No rear sight? That thing would look sick with tech sights.. Don't know how that'd work with that front sight though. Is it screwed on to the barrel?

Ya unfortunately no back site.
That front site is roll pinned in place.
Just curious as I'm new to this whole gun thing haha! What do you mean by tech sites?
That might be a really dumb question but I'm just a house wifey learning as I go!
I do love iron sites so if I could find something that would work on it I'd love to.

Marlin 989 M2, looks like a slightly smaller M1 Carbine, shoots 22LR. There were just over 24,000 built in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Great semi-auto rifle, lots of fun and is accurate , may have a 7 round clip and a 10 round clip.

Apparently the Marlin replacement mags work in your 989 M2 , for about $20.00 ea , here is the link

Very nice rifle , Enjoy it !!

Yes, nice rifles. I have both the clip fed and the tube fed version. Too bad the rear sight is missing as usually (like most parts) they are not cheap if you find a factory one. But as mentioned, you can install a different sight.

It looks at me as if this one was not fitted with a sight? It looks like its just set up for a scope. As far as I can tell, they did not come with a sight. I could be way off, but everything I have found suggests it came just the way it sits now.
Would be neat to find out for sure! :)

It would have had a rear sight from factory. Both of mine have them. The rear sight fits into the same grooves that the scope mount slides into. The sights are missing on a lot of these guns. In fact you will come across a number of posts on various forums where people have commented that one is lucky if they find one that still has the rear sight.

That looks really cool, I was wondering if that was the one that was at Cabelas lol. Looks like I thought about it too long :) I'm glad it found a good home.

Oh too crazy! lol
I wasn't too sure about it, as I felt guilty since there is some stuff my hubby is saving for, but he said I'd better get it or I'd regret it! haha!

I think Marlins are accurate enough to warrant scope use anyway...but either way, I'd want a complete gun. Tech sights would certainly look the part on that though, agreed.
