My Marstar Rifle Chamber looks Defective??

Give me the serial number and the client's date of purchase, if I can't produce a signed inspection sheet for this rifle I will give you one FREE
If on the other the inspection sheet is produced for one and all to view you owe me and our customers an apology with an admission that you really don't have a clue what you are talking about....and add $399.oo for the price of the rifle

I don't think Sunray knows what he is talking about either ... everyone knows the Packing Grease is left in there to prove the gun is new and unfired, right?

HOWEVER,
when I got my brand new Norinco from Marstar it did come with an inspection sheet, with all the check marks in the right place. After I cleaned out the Cosmoline, I did my own personal inspection. I used to be a licensed Gunsmith, and I've BTDT before on dozens of M1A rifles, genuine M-14 rifles, and M-14S/305 Chinese rifles. The MARSTAR inspection sheet did NOT show that the front sight on my brand new rifle was about 7 degrees too far to the left = Over tightened = barrel reindexing ... the hard way, as in = making it longer, not shorter.

Nor did it show that the headspace, with either my Military 7.62 NATO guages, or my Forster .308 Win Gauges and a stripped bolt, showed a whopping .010 thou greater than 7.62 NATO GO. Which is about .010" greater than .308 Win NO GO.

I am not complaining because I know that $399 is a fantastic price for a stripped forged M-14 reciever, let alone a complete rifle. And I know from personal experience that the M-14 design will shoot accurately and safely with military 7.62 NATO ammo with even grosser headspace than that. And in my case, I dropped in a GI barrel and bolt immediately ... as was the original plan. Took me a bit less time to swap in the shortened 18 1/2" GI barrel and fit the bolt, than it took me to clean out the grease and do my own personal complete inspection.

HOWEVER,
in my personal opinion, the guy who put all the check marks on my Norinco inspection report probably never even looked at it ... or else he is so nearsighted he couldn't see a front sight off 7 degrees? And never dropped in a headspace gauge?

I realise $ 399 is a bargain, and doesn't leave much room for spending a lot of time on "inspections" if you are to keep the prices at this incredible low, but I RESPECTFULLY suggest you might want to have a few words with the guys who do the inspections.

And,
to put my money where my mouth is ... I'll gladly send you $399 PLUS shipping if you grab the next NORC M-14/305 out of inventory and send me an M-14 that is guaranteed to have the barrel indexed correctly, and proper 7.62 NATO headspace.

Of course, to be fair, if you can't guarantee this kind of quality control, then I'd be satisfied with the M-14 you offered Suinray for free ... and I'll be more than glad to scrounge up and fit a GI barrel and bolt myself.

Not to nitpick but the VZ58 I bought from you had an inspector sheet with it signed by Jamie that was totally off....for example:
Checked off as new and unfired but the rifle was well used and bore was filthy from being shot......alot
Checked off as no signs of rust when there was rust in the action and the muzzle cap was rusty as well, rust on the trigger and safety lever.
After that, I had little faith in your inspection sheets.....
But alas, the iron clad guarantee is there for when Jamie falls asleep on the job.....makes everything OK right?......:eek:

I picked it up to save on shipping, I did not pick it out......and the only reason I would drive 1.5 hours to pick it up is that I was charged $50 for shipping on a Norinco 54 pistol prior to that. Funny that I have routinely paid $25 for other pistols shipped from BC using the same courrier, but they charge $50 to deliver 1.5 hours away when you used them......:rolleyes: I know you have that shipping charge on file.
I thought you were paying attention?
 
I love the stuff that Marstar brings into the country for us, and I've bought 6-or-8 Marstar guns over the years, and have never had occasion to even seriously consider needing the guarantee.

I also know Lazerus2000 has been around the firearms community for a long time, I knew him in the mid 1980's, he does know his stuff and doesn't generally mix up opinion and fact.

His post is a lot tougher to answer.
 
I will most definately agree with Lazerus2000.
My sight is way off and I also didn't get an inspection sheet for the SKS I had ordered from the last shippment........
I'd rather have the great prices but if an inspection sheet is to be provided, then at least let it not be a borderline gimmick.
Keep up the great prices, service and warranty, but do drop the sheet.

Lets just say that if an item is supposed to be inspected and comes with a signed inspection checklist, then everything should be as indicated, and not just "signed off " to get the item out the door.

This comment is not specifically aimed at Marstar, but at ALL businesses.;)

IMHO, if the item is not as the inspection sheet claims, then that smacks of false advertising.........:rolleyes:

Lazerus has been around the M14 world for EONS, and can talk the talk, AND walk the walk.....:D ;) :dancingbanana:

I had a buddy fire my M14 for the first shot that's all the trust I have in Norinco. No but seriously they are decent rifles, a little crude around the edges but shoot fine.
 
My newest used Chinese M-14 is the tightest I've personally headspaced yet ...
headspace is only .009" thou over 7.62 NATO GO ...
which is acceptable ...
barely.

When I did my usual thorough inspection, this one had absolutely ZERO deficiencies ... rear sight works, front sight is straight, the bolt wear patterns show perfect bearing.

SO, it IS possible to get a perfect Norinco.
