I just recivied my first Mosin 91/30 which I bought from Trade Ex...great service btw. My question is about my guns bolt...one I work the action anf have the gun cocked...I can uncocked it SUPER easily with 1 finger. Is this normal? It seems like the slightest bump off something hunting with this would uncock my loaded gun...If this is not normal can I fix it?

If it does that with the safety engaged it is a major problem. If it does it with out the safety engaged I wouldn't worry about it.

To engage the safety grab the cocking piece(the knob at the rear of the bolt), pull it back slightly, turn it to the left about a 1/4 turn and release the pressure. To release the safety is the opposite action. If this requires excessive force, you should clean the cosmoline totally out of your bolt.

Google surplus rifle Mosin-Nagant for instructions on how to take apart your bolt.

Yes, its normal. The bolt will just about shoot back by itself if its cocked. As Hook said, just make sure the safety is solid. Putting the safety on and off takes more strength, but the bolt should not move at all.

I hunt with my Mosin. The safety is noisy and takes more effort to put it on, but quiet and less strength to take it off.

You should take your bolt apart and clean out whatever is in it anyways. Chances are, it has not been done in a long time. I bet there is a bit of gunk in it, maybe even a bit of the Ukraine!
