ok so its not really a flat top but in anticipation of the new model and not really wanting to wait i decided to go about making my own and add a few extra things. i figured id just give it a shot as its only a plastic rifle and it turned out pretty decent. heres some pics. and yes i can still take it apart for service. total invested is about $40 not including the scopes.

Nicely done, how much material front and back did you have to remove to make the top rail and hand guard hardware fit?

Posted a couple for you :D

That looks great !!
Do you have any pics of the makeover ?
Where did you get the front grip and barrel cover ?

im didnt take any pics of the build, i kind of just get into a groove and next thing you know projects finished.

the front grip and barrel shroud are both paint ball gun accessories and are actually much highter quality than anything on the factory mossy .22. the brand is "ops gear" most paintball/airsoft stores should be able to provide them.

removing the carry handle took the most time as you really have to take your time with the plastic so it doesnt melt and constantly checking it with a level. the entire factory front barrel cover was removed and just the two ends where used and secured into the new front grip. ill take it apart tonight and take some close up pics of where i had to cut and grind to allow the actual working assembly to still be removed for cleaning.

I've got a Mossy Tactical "Flat Top" project in the works but like the way yours turned out.
I might be going in a different direction now . LOL

thanks. the hardest part is mounting the top rail so that its solid, level and still allows you to remove the working parts if needed. ill get you some pics of the non integral inner pieces i ground down to make more room. and the top rail is actual one of the factory side rails cut down.

I took the handle off, smoothed the top, inlet the Ruger rail I picked up( alot of work) and will be drilling and tapping the rail to the receiver. I've been taking pics but have never posted pics on here before. Good time to learn how I guess ??
Yours looks to be a lot more practical and less time consuming. I wish I had seen this last week. LOL
Where was the place you bought the front grip and barrel sleeve ? I've called a half dozen stores and no one has them.

well i live on the west coast and a local store keeps them in stock "valley combat & tactical" partially why i got such a good deal, small shop not too sure if they do distant orders. you can order direct from opsgear.com if needed im sure. get some pics up id like to see your take on the flat top. i only used how to learn photobucket last night lol
