Been wanting to do an MP5 clone build for some time now.
Lots of really nice AR-15 styles, but I like something different. Had no money for a Thompson kit, or a Krinker Plinker build. Wanted it to be as short as our Canadian law will allow, (its just over 26-1/4" long) and remain NR. Estimate to have $400 into it not including the 10/22 that I used.
Consists of a NEA 9" barrel
Specter Arms S-54 chassis, (modified a fair bit)
Pro-Mag AA9-22 magazine
Some eBay airsoft diopter sights.
Butt stock I made myself. (Out of a scrap chunk of 2x6")
Still some finishing work to do, the airsoft sights seem to be okay now but I hardly trust them. The Pro-Mag had some filing to be done before it feeds reliably, (just gotta take your time cause once material is removed, its gone forever). Some sanding marks in the butt stock as well to smooth out, plus I need to give it a real butt plate. I also want to make a sling of some type, and perhaps paint the final assembly all matte black so all the parts match.
Might even put on a dummy fire control lever.
I would also like to fabricate something that will cover the gap left at the rear of the 10/22 receiver. As well as a plate or cover to hide the AR-15 threads, latch and nut; all to make it more MP5 like.
If I get real ambitious I will make a left hand side charging handle, but that will wait a while.
Anyways, its a little different than most 10/22 builds.
