I can assure you Scaggly is not a shill.
If anything I have the closest ties to NEA, apart form maybe digit (the importer) as I was the guy that "hooked him up" with NEA. I just wanted a cheaper AR in NZ and NEA delivered. In total honesty I was underwhelmed when I unboxed my NEA. The trigger was terrible, the upper wouldn't fit my RRA lower, cuz there was no gap at the back of the handguard, and the gas key wasn't even staked. It wouldn't cycle reliably. I staked the gas key and then it cycled. I replaced the trigger springs with a JP set and it was a lot nicer to fire. The safety detent spring was far too long, making the safety stiff as a nun's c..t, so I trimmed a few coils off and it worked well. The rail was nice and slim. Light too. It was a nice gun to hunt with. That is my honest observation of my NEA15, one of the first batch into NZ.
At the time, I felt like an ass hole - because I had been harping on the NZ boards about how these Canuck guns have a life time warranty, high quality barrels etc and how they were going to #### on everything else. I also felt bad for the importer, as I thought he was bound to get a whole lot of warranty issues. He is a good honest guy and only wants the best for Kiwi shooters. Fortunately it has really taken off for him, and he reckons the latest NEA's are very good. Personally, I don't understand how they ####ed up so badly, I just hope they eventually live up to their talk. I think that they have the potential of being fantastic guns once the QC problems are gone. A huge positive spin off NEA has had is reducing the price of AR's across the board down here.
Those are my thoughts on the situation.
