I was out doing some grouse shooting, i've put only about 400 rounds though this it only 2 months old, never abused or anything last shot of the day yesterday and when i pulled the trigger it just broke right off, this a known problem?

Never heard of it happening before. PITA.

Shoot an Email off to Ruger's Customer Service contact info from their website and see how they deal with it. Should be a no-brainer for a warranty replacement.

Got a digital camera? Take some clear photos of the broken surfaces and post them. I'd be interested in seeing where it broke, and how. Send the pics to Ruger, too.

Ruger is probably THE leading business in cast parts for guns in North America. But duds happen. Bummer.

Cheers

Just call the dealer where you bought it and let them look after the issue with Ruger. Bet they will just replace it and send it back to Ruger.

I know it's a piss off, but just replace it with an aftermarket one. Cheaper and better, than warranty work when you pay shipping.

Question for the OP .. I noticed your profile says your up in the Yukon. It may or may not be relevant, but how cold was it at the time your trigger broke?

I decided to look at my SR22 and it has a plastic trigger of all things, and was thinking that it wouldn't be that great in cold weather. I ordered a Timney trigger set up from mystic as replacement. I use mine daily in the mornings when I take walk looking for partridge to shoot, and it's getting rather cold now a days ... lol. I'd hate to have it break on me while I am waiting for my new one.

2 months old eh? That must be one of those new and improved pla.. sorry, POLYMER trigger assemblies that are FAR superior to metal because they don't break?

The above is not meant to be at the OP's expense, I just HATE when firearms companies start to use plastic parts, especially when they support those decisions to build something cheaper with bullsh*t excuses.

At least the fix is easy; trigger parts are easily found because it is often the first thing replaced on any 10/22.
