Just got this baby.

My new BTVS. I put a 4-12X40 trophy on her. (Ya I'm on a bit of a budget)

I have to take the scope rings back and get some taller ones, there's only about .020" clearance at the front and the objective ring doesn't have enough clearance.

.....I don't want to hear any comments about my socks!

Looks good. Try some Remington Subsonics, CCI Standard Velocity, and any SK, Lapua, and Eley, that you can find and afford. Target ammo (which is subsonic) drifts less in the wind and is more accurate even with no wind. Here is the method I used on mine to adjust the trigger down to 10-12 oz, and also the bedding method I used.

Also the other way to gain some height is to replace the factory supplied bases with some Weaver ones. The Savage ones are about 0.146" high. The other ones that fit are:

#12 - 0.155" (don't gain much)
#24 - 0.271" (probably would work best for you)
#68 - 0.399"

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm a member of the PoCo range and it's sheltered by berms so I don't expect wind to be an issue but I'll definitely keep your advice in mind.
