Some of you guys know the story behind this gun, but the short of it is that I was supposed to be buying a Marlin, but it turned out to be a Winchester 94AE XTR Big Bore 356win. I was not too happy at the time because of the "misunderstanding" and the fact that there were some spots of surface rust from the previous owner leaving it wet inside a saddle scabbard.
It is a shame as it only had 9 rounds down the pipe. Luckily the bore was fine - looks new after a good cleaning.
Anyway, I cleaned it up a bit and installed a Leupold 2x7 as well as a hammer extension. I picked a few loads to try and headed to the range this past Easter Monday. After zeroing the scope on the paper at 100m, I tested a few of my reloads. I was actually pleasantly surprised by this rifle. It shot pretty good and will probably do better with further load development.
So, from a deal that started off sour, has turned out to be pretty sweet!
Here are a few pictures...
