The other day a friend called me up wondering if I wanted to buy some reloading gear he wanted to get rid of for $75. He said he bought it for $100 from a old friend and he only wanted a few items but it was a package. So, I went over to his house to look at the gear, planning on turning the offer down as I figured $75 wasn't going to go far, but to my surprise this was going to be a pretty good buy. It included: a Lyman Spartan press, Lyman No. 45 bullet sizing lubricator (set up for .358" bullets), Lyman M5 Precision Scale, Lyman All-American .357/.38 3 Die Set, Lyman All-American Carbide .357/.38 sizing die, Lyman wadcutter bullet seating plug, Lyman .357/.38 2 bullet mold & Lyman handles, Lyman 10 lbs melting pot & Lyman ingot mold, RCBS powder trickler, RCBS Uniflow powder measure (set up for pistol), RCBS case lube kit, RCBS burring tool, Forster case trimmer (with pilots & collets), 4 sticks of hollow lube, universal powder funnel, 13oz of Unique powder (in a vintage tin), 4 homemade case trays & 4 plastic case holders, primer pocket cleaner, case cleaning brush, adjustable wrench, slip jaw wrench, large and small flat screw drivers, allen wrenches for reloading equipment, vintage reloading books, assorted .38 Special brass, the homemade cabinet with a light and there are also a few other homemade items in the case that I haven't identified yet. Here are a few picture of what I bought.

Ha ha thank you all for the reassurance that I got a good deal :D Anyone have any opinions on what this equipment is actually worth? I have ideas based on the current MSRPs, but that is new not used.

A major score- several hundred dollars worth at least. At the very least you should buy your friend a very good bottle of his favourite beverage.

Score. Great thing about reloading equipment is that it rarely wears out and most of the manufacturers have lifetime guarantees. Bottom line... it puts together ammo just like the new stuff.

Ya done good!

When that Unique is all used up, don't discard the can - people collect stuff like that.

I noticed that when I looked some of this stuff up on eBay. I was looking for a dipper and decided to check on a vintage Lyman Ideal dipper and the box was $19 and the dipper was $15! I guess everyone threw those out back in the day and now they are hard to come by.

Fwiw, dippers aren't exactly known for their accuracy. If you want consistent loads, get a powder dump or better still, weigh each load individually.
