Hey Guys,

Thought I would post this, although the 'project' is not yet complete as I am waiting for a scope to come back from Leupold with an M1 turret installed. I've got a 2.5-8x36 for this rifle.

This is my new Model 7 project rifle.
McMillan Mtn Rifle EDGE stock (bedded)
Slabbed Action
Bolt Fluted
Bolt Handle Skeletonized
PTG Firing Pin/Shroud Assembly
Talley LW's
Bead Blasted
Tuned Trigger

6lbs as pictured. Work done by brno284 from the site!

Shot it yesterday and it shoots Remington factory 150 Corelokt well under MOA.

Loaded up some 160 Accubonds and was getting 2980-3010 fps with 59.0 and 59.5gr of Hybrid 100v with zero pressure signs from my 22" barrel. Dont think I'll push the speed envelope as this load seems very accurate as is!

I MAY cerakote the action black next year....havent decided yet though. Thoughts?

IMO skeletonizing the bolt handle at the joint with the bolt body weakens it needlesly for the fraction of oz in weight savings, also I would leave the barrel say 1/2lb heavier other than that I like it. GR8.

Agreed!!! 3000fps from a 160 Accubond is sweet! Nice balance of everything in a short action! Not sure what the 140TTSX would do but I'm guessing it would handle anything in Alberta or BC quite easily!

I'll tell you soon enough, got two boxes of 140gr TTSX that arrived a few weeks ago.

The bbl is a factory bbl and was not touched at all.

As for the bolt handle, I like the way it looks and will see if I have any issues in the future.

Lift then pull, lift then pull, lift then pull...
Hey look at that problem solved!

That rig looks sharp! If you have the 160s cooking 3000fps I say 140TTSXs will do 3150 for sure. Whole lot of hurt in a great package. Good enough to fill the void of a .284 anyway ;).

I should try H100V in mine. H4350 petered out at 2975 fps with 150gr NBT before pressure signs showed up. Got some H1000 and H4831sc too

nice rifle

nice rifle....I've had a couple 7SAUM's go thru my hands.....good cartridge....a 280AI in a short action,...what's not to like?

You would have to remove a lot more metal than that from the bolt handle to make it weaker than the solder joint...in other words,...you would pull the solder joint apart before you would bend the handle...
