Ok i have a CMMG AR ive put about 400 rounds through it i keep it very clean and oiled , the first 300 rounds it works flawless but the last two range trips it has a stovepipe failure to eject about every 10th round fired??? I tried completely striping and cleaning the BCG but still no luck.

Have you changed anything? ie...what ammo were you using, and did you switch makes? Have you mounted an optic? Did you change mags? What about your BCG...when you cleaned it, did you check to see if the gas rings were all lined up together? They should be spaced apart...
Give us a bit more info and we may be able to dig a little deeper.:)

Could be something simple like your gas rings on your bolt, make sure they are not lined up.

have you changed ammo or anything different you're doing?

I have had the problem with both american eagle and privi ammo i just mounted a vortex SPARC ive had it happen with a few different mags, the gas rings are lined up proper . My norc CQ has no problems with any ammo or mags go figure lol.

Can you post any pics? Can you remove the SPARC and see if it causing the problem (I know it sounds odd, but if the brass is hitting some part of it or???)? Maybe try a few snap caps or dummy rounds to see where the issue is?

no the SPARC is not the problem i had the issue without it mounted . I will try to post a pic of the problem soon .. But what happens is when a round is fired the bolt comes back and the case does not fully eject, the bolt picks up a new round goes forward and jams when half chambered because the empty case from the last shot get stuck in the action as a stovepipe.

ok heres a pic

Must be ejector or extractor issue. It's obviously cycling far enough to strip a new round so that rules out gas rings. But all I know about ar's came from reading. I xoxo my xcr.

Common Causes for a stove pipe in an AR-15:
1) Fouled Ejector thats not able to eject the round clear of the bolt before it comes home...
2) Unable to overcome extractor tension.
3) Bag magazine... It's possible for them to be putting too much upward force on the spent brass. It's rare, but I've seen it.
4) A dirty and or dry Bolt/BCG can also add to the issues.
5) Short Stroking... Can be due to gas problems (very uncommon)... OR Ammo thats underpowered (often reloads)...

Now based on the picture, it looks like the bolt is dirty/may need some cleaning. Can you post picks of the BCG/Bolt stripped?

What happens when you remove the bolt and apply pressure to the extractor? Is it extremely difficult to press? Maybe its an over powered or broken extractor. I've seen extractors break into little pieces and cause the extractor to have such great tension that it would cause a stovepipe.

Is the extractor fouled?

Have you tried it with different mags? I like to number my mags... Sometimes you'll see an issue that crops up almost every time with a one single mag... Issues that you may not have through were mag related. ---I know you said it happened with a few different mags, but are you sure?

Personally... I'm betting on some kind of extractor issue... maybe broken spring, maybe too tense, maybe dirty...
