My new AR15

Amen to that...

I'm in a constant state of buying and selling accessories... It's an expensive habit.. Nothing of my original AR is left now.. It's cost me 1000s of $ and I don't even get to shoot it that much.. But at the end of the day I'm completely satisfied. :D

Well, I am not quite in the same boat, I don't have any firearms for 'pride of ownership'. Not that there's anything at all wrong with that, but all my guns are workhorses and see tons of ammo.

I prefer mostly stock guns, don't really dress them up to much.

your better with a cable lock. unless your trigger lock covers the little push pin on the trigger guard ;)

Yeah, you might be right, I have seen photos of guys with the ARs with a trigger lock, and it never seems to fit on properly.

huh?

Nice built, BTW what is the barrel length? I'm guessing 16"

Yep, 16", gotta get a revised form 6 in this week :D

I didn't mention it above, but I love the boing sound that you can hear when you fire these guns.

The trigger guard has a takedown pin for shooting with big gloves or mitts (like during Canadian winters). This negates the use of a trigger-lock, unless the takedown pin can be effectively covered.

That`s a funny clip in your signature line. Classic!

What`s the name of that movie...

So what, I think its still legal. trigger locks can be defeat in 30 seconds with a long skinny blade screwdriver between the rubber protector and the end of the lock half. Pull back rubber, look for the spring loaded tab that rides on the ratchet, Pry with screwdriver and voila. So my point is if someone wants them......

Congrads on your new AR just half to break in now get all the kinks out of it.Make sure all your mags drop freely with a loaded gun.Get it sighted in so you know where your shooting when you have those 100 -150 steel plates in the USA.Have to get it put on your FORM 6 so you bring it to the next match.

What make of upper did you get.

Upper is custom I believe, Cerro Forged receiver with a ER Shaw barrel, feedramps, manganese phosphate finish with chrome moly bore and chamber.

The gun definitely needs the kinks worked out, everything is still pretty stiff :)

I'll be submitting a new form 6 on Monday, so I should be good for the next 3 gun match in Sept.

Also, I was thinking of sighting in at 100-150 yards, I haven't checked the ballistics of the .223 round yet, but I bet with that distance, the peak of the ballistic arc is probably only 1-2", which would keep me pretty accurate for any shots up to 200 yards without hold over or hold under. But I am really just speculating until I look into it.

What are your irons sighted at?

Welcome to the ar club! I like to dress up some guns, and keep some stock, so I know what you mean about keeping them clean, but this is an ar! The glock, ar, ruger 10/22, rem870 are the most fun to dress up! It's dolls for big kids!;) You can always put them back to stock if you get bored, or wanna go retro!:)

Hey, dress up your guns as much as you want, I won't judge and its pretty cool seeing some of those AR & 10/22 designs. :)

But, I prefer to spend money on trigger time, I make minor modifications to improve the trigger groups & accuracy, but the fancy stuff is a little out of my price range.

K.I.S.S -KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID
Don't get caught up in all the hype of decking your gun out.
Get to know your gun and shoot it and shoot it and shoot it until you feel comfortable with it.Then you can practice all the others mag changes, moving well shooting, shooting over, around, under barracades etc.

When i zero my gun I only had a 50 yard range so that is where I zero it at.

Thanks for the comments guys,

Got out and shot a few rounds today to ensure functionality, worked flawlessly except it was like amateur hour with the other shooters on the range this morning  (but that's another story)

It may negate the actual effectiveness but not the legality...

blake

Completely correct, the law states that it must have a trigger lock, or other lock, but it does not state that the lock has to be effective, or for example that the key and lock must be kept seperate - simply that the firearm must be secured by it. Again, not that it must be secured against unauthorized use, simply 'secured' which means that it is secure as you leave it. Huge loophole, typical of our firearms law. I'm amazed anyone ever gets charged with anything, really.
