I see there is a top rail for optics, but I can't make out if there is a bottom one for foregrips, bipods etc.

If there isn't, is there a kit out there?

On the SL8-4 and -5 you can get a bottom rail and side rails that screw into molded in hard points in the handguard. Mine are on thier way fron Wolverine.
Not cheap either, $250+ for the bottom and 2 sides.

Knights armamet has a replacement handguard that has the rails incorperated into it. Its listed for the G36, but fits the SL8 and SL8-4 and -5
