I had a present waiting for me when I got home tonight; the last piece of the puzzle for my basement dry fire range!

Last week I purchased the iTarget 9mm laser bullet, and the LASR software from their webstore. I had an old webcam laying around, and plenty of targets. I finally got everything set up tonight, and I've been practicing my dry fire since 4:30 because it's pretty damn fun.

If anyone is unfamiliar with the LASR app, it works in conjunction with a webcam and lets you set target areas on the screen. You can literally set anything as a target, but I find actual targets to be easiest. There are several modes in the base program; my favorite is the "call targets" mode, where the program will call out targets for me and I have a set amount of time to hit them.

As you can see, the program shows all my hits in red. My splits are all on the right hand side, and as you can see I have programmed random reloads into this drill for an extra challenge. Each of these were performed out of the holster.

All in all, this is a great investment into your dry fire practice. In total, i'm into the software and laser bullet for around $200 total.

That is pretty cool!

I went the cheap route. I found some laser target ammo for $36.CDN and then downloaded the free iTarget app and paid the $6.99 for the QuickDraw addon which is worth it.

I guess the same for and SA firearms. Good for requiring sights but not for times i guess

Yeah if you wanted to shoot fast strings you'd want to buy a SIRT pistol or some trigger reset kit so you don't have to rack your slide. I personally am not interested in the SIRT pistols, as I'd rather train with my own sights and trigger on my gun.

i really want this. all the computers in my home are macs so i wonder how well it runs in bootcamp as ive never used bootcamp before.
or would i be better off getting the LASR Station.
or buy an el cheapo windows laptop (refurb).
hmmm.....

The LASR station is pretty neat! A laptop would certainly help keep things portable and convenient- I just happen to have my PC close by in my gun room.

I'd like to upgrade my webcam and set it a little farther back so I can set up more targets and have some more variety to shoot at.
