I had a present waiting for me when I got home tonight; the last piece of the puzzle for my basement dry fire range!
Last week I purchased the iTarget 9mm laser bullet, and the LASR software from their webstore. I had an old webcam laying around, and plenty of targets. I finally got everything set up tonight, and I've been practicing my dry fire since 4:30 because it's pretty damn fun.
If anyone is unfamiliar with the LASR app, it works in conjunction with a webcam and lets you set target areas on the screen. You can literally set anything as a target, but I find actual targets to be easiest. There are several modes in the base program; my favorite is the "call targets" mode, where the program will call out targets for me and I have a set amount of time to hit them.
My fancy camera holder and target:
My view of the target at 5 yards
Tools of the trade:
Before a run:
After a run:
As you can see, the program shows all my hits in red. My splits are all on the right hand side, and as you can see I have programmed random reloads into this drill for an extra challenge. Each of these were performed out of the holster.
All in all, this is a great investment into your dry fire practice. In total, i'm into the software and laser bullet for around $200 total.
