My new Brno Single shot...

It would seem so!

Is the lug actuated by the top lever like a Purdey underlug or does it swing down under the breech face like a shotgun?

Italian Sporting Goods is the sponsor. I separately ordered a quality Czech-made one-piece steel mount (Kozap) from a non-site sponsor (PM me if you want a link). No scope ring combo.

Damn she thicc...

What is the barrel contour like?

I had been eyeing that one for a while but I want a tilting block.

I have had two Ruger #1's... and I can say they are as much different as they are similar to the Brno breech loaders. Both are fine rifles. The Rugers are somewhat more refined and geared for high volume production (perfect casting vs low volume CNC machining), but it does appear Brno caught-up with this new (2013/14) specimen (wood-metal fitment, deep bluing, nice wood). My other Brno combo gun from 2010 was less refined. Brno's really shine in the metal work category and are usually exceptional shooters. Brno still retained their utility wood finishes (poly-goop), which I guess are better for the elements. Unfortunately, CZ dropped Brno in 2014 so no more Euro-stalking rifles, double guns or shotguns from the famed company. What a shame, but the market in the US seems to dictate firearm design and production.

Just to answer a few PM's:

Twist: 1:12 (barrel is hammer forged)
Weight: 6.38 lbs
Dovetail: 16mm (proprietary)

It came in a few calibres. For NA market: 30-06 (mostly), 308 and 243 Win. Europe got the cool calibres: 6.5x57R, 7x65R, 8x57JRS. 2010-2014. In 2015, they only came in a few calibres for the Euro market only. 5 year production run, with some parts guns in 2015.

Just an FYI, that I located a BNIB Brno Effect in 243. They were only made between 2010 and 2014. These are hard to find, especially brand new. It's a site sponsor. Send me a PM for the link. Under $1300 ! These are GREAT rifles made by the most experienced former Brno employees under CZ ownership. They sport CZ-made cold hammer forged barrels, select Turkish walnut stocks, and the receivers are pure Brno.

Nice little stalking rifle. I handled two of them at he Calgary Shooting Centre in Calgary. They were chambered in the 308 Win. and the 30-06 Springfield. They are very fast on the draw accompanied with a rapid swing. This rifle is ideal in tight bushy areas and both cartridges are excellent for close and medium range.
I just picked-up a single shot as well in the break-open hinge style as well, however mine is chambered in a magnum cartridge. Congrats!

Thanks. It certainly is a proper stalking rifle. Swings and points like it should. As soon as I have some time, I'll post proper pics. It's my third Brno, and like the others, it has impeccable metal work and nice bluing.

Very nice. I have 5 BRNO's and a few CZ's not one has been disappointing in any way. Enjoy

I think I am up to 3 Brno's and 2 CZ's... all outstanding.
My favourite, a Brno 21 (from Track), got a custom bolt and is getting a full refinish: case hardening, re-bluing, and a tung oil finish to bring out the lovely grain. They don't make them like that anymore! Might as well renew one and use it regularly.

Nice Stalking rifle Kurgan... breakopen rifles point nice, do they not? I've an old 219 in 30-30... they point like they have eye's

Assuming you are referring to the Ruger #1, how is it crap?

Some folks are like that... some would say you & I are the same, ...just different topics.
But I'm trying. Being a Hater is overrated.. and trolling is a greasy look.
