My new BRNO

I've ran the 2.5-8 on my 7mm Richard and have never wanted anything more or less. It is great in the bush and all I've needed for the field.

Kristian, The Brnos DID come with a single trigger factory. My rifle is so equipped and I have seen quite a few that way. You will be familiar with the blanking plate under the trigger guard that surrounds the trigger. The one on my 8x57 Slimbo bought had a much longer opening in it than my 7mm has. I held them side by side and they both had the origonal finish and were otherwise identical. Clearly not a Bubba job.

No worries. The thing I did not like about the single trigger is they are like a milsurp Mauser. Two stage, creepy and not a clean break at all, even after polishing. Ended up using a Dayton Traister instead and that improved my shooting a fair bit.

Hey Guy!
It's your lucky day, I found the paperwork in my mess. It says model UM. The unit itself is very compact. Only thing I did not like with it was the serrated face of the trigger. I polished it out to look like the factory one. The basic shape of the trigger puts it a bit too far ahead but that is about it.

You'll have to massage the hole inthe receiver where the sear pokes through and remove a little wood in the stock but it is by far the smallest adjustable you will find.

Still thinking of pulling out your DST?

congrats on owning a fine peice of firearm history, I have one like it except mine has been hunted and does not have the double set triggers, aside from that I would'nt trade it or my 7 x 57 or Haenel 9 x 57 for anything made in North America, your 19 and I'm a senior citizen, great to see such inteligence in youth, you will love it.....

Thanks! :)

The scope arrived today, it's a 2.5-8x36.

First time I saw a 21 I was about Rich's age. Looking back I sure wish I had bought that rifle. It would have saved me alot of money down the tubes buying remchesters before finding another one.

You are sure well set up now Richard. You have brought me hope that there are still a few young folk around who know what a classy rifle is.

They look fantastic.

They manufactured the bolt handle that way. That is a beautiful and classy set up for sure. Where do I get me one of those?

Yes, butterknife bolthandle like on most Mannlicher Rifles.

Regarding your question: Have 2000$ handy and buy one!:p

A nice alternative is a Voere 2165

Or you could find a 1909 Argentine M98, have a gunsmith replace the bolt handle with a butterknife version (available from Brownell's), replace the trigger, screw on a good barrel etc.....

First you have to find one!:)

...and then......hacksaw?

I would not hack up a nice survivor! Unless it was a G33/40. Just kidding!!

Well, Tradeex has some M98's (FN manufactured actions) with poor bores for cheap. Refinish the stock in a nice oil finish (tung or linseed or schaftol), rebarrel and add butterknife bolt.

I know, I know, it'll never be a Mannlicher-Schoenauer, 21H, 22F etc. But you will have a nice Mauser for less than the price of a new Remington 700 BDL.
