I havent been so excited about a gun in a while. I am really thrilled about this and cant wait for the weekend to come so I can head out to the range!

Here's a couple pics, although my phone just doesnt do it justice.

I havent fired it yet but here are my impressions so far in the general order that they occurred to me.

- It comes in a nice hard case that isnt cut out to only fit the pistol.
- Everything that I would take time out of my day to polish is already polished... and then some.
-The checking is nice. Front strap, housing, grips, they are all grippy but not overly abrasive.
-The sights are actually pretty decent. Being a carry type I figured they would be a bit more open and rough, but it seems like its going to be a drea, to fire.
-Disassembly is easy once you find a paperclip.
-everything is a very tight fit. Barrel to slide.
-There is no noticable play between the slide and the frame. I mean you can almost always feel something. But not here. I hope it cycles reliably.
- didnt measure it yet but it feels like its got about a 3 lb triggerpull on it.
-It just feels like a great gun. Everything is so crisp.

My only beef is with the fella who attempted to block the mags to 10. It was a bit of a hack job that resulted in one mag only holding 9 rounds and the other holding 11 until I sorted things out.

But I find this minor compared to the naging urge to go shoot this puppy!

I will post more at that time. I will shoot a few groups too if I can contain myself.

i cant wait for the review. im deciding between this one the commander hicap version. any chance you can take some pics holding the gun? id love to see how it sits in the hand :)

Does it have steel frame rails like a Glock or H&K, or plastic rails like a Ruger?
Is the finish blued? Does it seem like it will accept standard 1911 parts?
Very cool gun. :)

That would be quite a trick.. What would the slide ride on?

Haha sorry, I though you meant like an accessory rail on the bottom of the dustcover. :D

Slide rails... I would guess kinda like an HK or Glock - a steel rail section embedded in the polymer..

It has steel rails. Not quite like a glock though. The part of the frame that has al the pins though it is solid steel and that area extends part of the way down the mag well. The rails run from the full length of the frame too. Well the same as any other 1911 anyway.

This is a 9mm. I went his way for the cost factor.

As for parts compatibility, the internals (ie; hammer, sear, trigger springs, pins), slide catch and safety seem pretty standard. I am looking for a low profile extended slide catch as a matter of fact. I may also opt for night sites at some point. I have seen hi-cap officers mainspring housings that should work. You can even get housings with mag wells attached for this. But then there would be a gap at the bottom of the frame where its relieved for the mags. And the factory supplied mags wouldnt work anymore. If I put my mind to it I bet I can come up with something there if I decide I want to. But I dont think that its realy necessary as the mag is really tapered.

The finish is not blued. Its a duracoat type finish and seelns ok. It actually feels kinda nice.

As for the pics...

1) heres the pistol in my right hand. Note the gimpy pinky.

2) Heres a more normal shot of it in my left hand. You only feel the difference the frame makes at the heel of your palm. I have fairly chunky fingers and the all still fit on the frame.

3) Heres one of the frame. I tried to get better detail of the inside but my phone just wont cut it.

4)Even though nobody asked, here's one of a mag. Anybody know of anything compatible?

Has anyone heard when Marstar is going to get more of the fullsize models in, they have been "temporarily" sold out for quite some time. I'd love to have one in .45

I was enquiring about mags and they told me they have a shipment inbound. No hard details on when, but at least we know they are getting more.

In other news, I slipped away to the range today.

Man it has been a LONG time since I shot a handgun!

My groupings were terrible at first, so I switched to a larger target but that didnt even reall make me feel better. 500 rds later I was doing about 3 inches at 20 yds. I think I can do better though. I just gotta clean the cobwebs out. Great gun. And not even one stoppage!

Sorry I couldnt take any pics of the targets. It was raining and I dont want to get my camera wet. OK you got me, I just dont wan to post pics of my crappy shooting. Maybe when I get into the swing of things.

Thanks Wally I really like it.

Smoothbore, I dont really think it would be suited to someone with small hands because the grip is quite fat. Its checkered al the way around, but the diameter of it would probably make it feel a bit too big in some people's hands. Its short from top to bottom thats all.
