Cut engraving on 4 axis CNC mill.
I just can't bring myself to take a hammer and stamps to 1 of Mikes barrels, or any barrel for that matter.

I have a recoil lug headed your way, let me know your thoughts, also from our new toy making machine.

Nothing chemical that I have come across.
We use Ceramicoat to make stainless tan or green or whatever, but it is still a coating, not a chemical process like blueing.
We can chemically blacken stainless, but needless to say it is black.
 
Well, got the chance to shoot her finally, and I'm very impressed. One of my loads (46.00 grains of Varget behind a 175 SMK) was getting velocities at 2975 fps! It was starting to show signs of pressure though, so I'll be cutting it back down, but very impressive to say the least, these Rock barrels are FAST. Here is a pic of my 3 very first groupings (3 rounds each from 100), not one grouping throughout the day was larger than 1/2 an inch:

Nice shooting, is that at 200yards? Beauty of a gun. Not my business but if you aren't really gonna use it in a tactical situation why not leave it stainless, it looks great.

I just might leave it stainless, it's growing on me. Those groupings were from 100, the groupings at 200 were a bit larger, but still very impressive.
 
Parkerizing in olive CAN be done however it seems to be a secret of the few who do it as to what type of metal additive makes it go green.I'll let you know if I ever figure it out! ;)
 
The less shiny and more banged-up it looks the meaner it looks in my opinion. I vote for paint. Nice rifle Rick....and you too mlebler!

By the way...I'm thinking of getting one of those bolt knobs. How much space between the handle and your eyepiece?

I have a mark 4 with no problem with clearance at all
 
I'm impressed by the pics taken. I think the represent the rifle well. Good job. As for the gun itself, the way it's been finished so far is a great look but when you're ready to give it a fresh look, hit with paint and it will look and feel like a whole new gun.
Are you treating the gun with gun juice?
