Just got my CZ 452 a few days ago and finally got my rail from the states to mount my scope so I could take it out to do some shooting today!

Here it is:

It shoots pretty well in my opinion once I got it sighted in. I am not a great shot so I am sure it could do a lot better than this:

I am extremely happy that I decided to get it. :D

Beauty of a gun. For that ammo it shoots good. Try some eley, sk or something of that caliber. With eley team my 455 was shooting in the .3 range at 50 yards

You jerk... you beat me out of the blocks LOL.

I got my 452 Varmint in the mail last week, and my DIP 25MOA rail and TPS rings from Kinney's today. Haven't got the scope yet, but it'll be a Viper PST in 4-16x50FFP; basically a similar rig with a heavy barrel.

Nice.

Haha

You will have to post some pictures when you get it all together. It was a tough decision for me deciding between the varmint and the American.

Pretty sure the next centerfire I buy will have "CZ" and "American" in it's name. If I didn't already have a little field-grade Anshutz .22lr, the same rifle would be in my plans for sure. Very nice. What model of Vortex is on that thing and is it an "LR" version? Looks like it might be, based on the top turret.

Very nice. I would ditch the sunshade though just for looks. I think it would look perfect without the sunshade. Also I'd give Lapua or Elley ammo a try. I think you'll be happy with the results. American eagle is plinking fodder (Yes I use it as well).

The 452's are great guns :) I've had this one 6 years or so, had my local gun shop order it from the importer (tok 6 months!) as a lefty rifle since at the time, they were not readily available left-handed in Canada.

When I got it, the first thing I did was change the cast trigger for a forged one out of a BRNO Model 1, changed the plastic magazine guide for a BRNO No.1 machined steel guide, changed the trigger guard for a BRNO No.2 contoured trigger guard, and had the bolt handle more dramatically scalloped and commercially re-blued so I could mount a scope lower. The scope is a 4X Unertl Hawk in Leupold rings (low).

the forged triggers take a trigger job a lot better than the cheaper cast triggers, this one breaks really clean at 2.5 pounds. I also ditched the plastic-bottomed magazines in favour of early steel-based BRNO mags.

As depicted, this gun shoots 1" groups all day long at 100m.

My only complaint is I wish the wood was a little thinned through the butt and at the for-end tip. One day I may get motivated to modify it.

I hate the bulk/appearance of sunshades and used to think the same thing, but, I visited a range this year that faced north west and late in the afternoon, had to wrap-up early due to the glare. Had the same thing hunting with the .223 recently too. I still don't keep the sun shades on, but keep them with me. I don't think they're only for looks if you find yourself in different places all the time, at different times of the day.

Its a Viper PST 6-24x50.
