As a relatively new shooter I bought my first handgun in September. S&W M&P 9mm. Why this gun? The sales guy said it was a great deal as it came with a range kit. And he was correct. That magazine loader was a fantastic addition as the magazines are so hard to load by hand. Then my son buys an IWI Jerrico. Damn that all metal handgun is nice! So not to be outdone I do some research this time for a full metal handgun. Al Flaherty had the CZ Shadow I wanted, but would I still have a marriage if I spent a thousand on it? I went on vacation in South Carolina. I asked in a gun store how much for the Shadow? I am told $1300. With exchange rate it would be about $2000. As soon as I got home I ordered the gun. But hun, I saved a thousand dollars! I took one of four they had in stock. The next week I picked it up (thanks RCMP, that was fast!). Al Flaherty is now out of stock, so my timing was perfect. The case is so small the gun did not fit with trigger guard. I transported in a box I use for ammo. Yesterday I finally got to the range. Again gun in ammo box. Magazines are in original gun case, which was not taken. It's a good thing I can load individual rounds without a magazine. I bought a small gun bag that hold the gun and magazines. Loving this hobby!

Congratulations on the Shadow....nice gun!

If I understand correctly you're saying you took the gun to the range but did not take the mags? What's up with that????

I never thought to try the Jericho mag in the Shadow. Hopefully with my gunbag holding pistol and mags I will not have to try and see if it works. I have two sons with RPAL, so now we each have our own guns for the range when we all go.

You will NOT regret this purchase!

My wife shopped around for quite a while before settling on the Shadow. It fits her hands very well and is an absolute nail driver. I still think one of the best values for the Canadian peso out there.

In retrospect, I've gotten a lot less personal attention since she bought it...

You can use the magazines from your sons IWI Jerrico. The magazines are the same. If I go CZ 75 magazine shopping, Sometimes I ask the store if they have any Jericho (baby eagle), or Tanfoglio magazines because sometimes they have old stock of the Tanfoglio mags for cheaper than CZ magazines and most of the time Jericho magazines are cheaper than CZ magazines.

The best mags you can get are the new 10 round Mecgar mags for the Shadow, it's what the factory has switched to for all their guns where you can have 17 or 19 round mags. The Canadian 10 rounders are full body metal mags, so 1/3 plastic crap, and have a redesigned top end with better metal throughout. Plus the anti friction coating makes them super slick.
Pretty sure the gun you saw in South Carolina was not a run of the mlll Shadow, likely an Orange or something.

^^^^ That is exactly what I thought it would have been one of the higher end CZ's IMHO

Congrats on the gun; they are great.

As for the mags, I use one locked range box all the time , and keep at least 2 mags for each type of handgun I own in it. A friend of mine keeps a mag in each pistol he owns at all times (he ones quite a few) so that he always has at least one when he gets to the range if he forgets his manufacturer specific range box.
